Don't really see why this game is more exciting then others, it's a shooter...on dragons... oh the revolution.

Lots of Dragon-based shooters around at the minute. Are dragons 'in with the kids', then?

I've never even seen a Saturn in real life. Hence my mild excitement towards this title.

This looks amazing! I loved Panzer Dragoon. And I'm actually a PS2 owner... I sure hope this will also be ported, otherwise I'll seriously consider an extra Box... damn!

While I basically think the idea of an on-rails-shooter on a dragon is pretty lame, the screens are incredible appealing to me. For no apparent reason and without knowing anything about the game really, I am somehow hyped. Guess it's the atmosphere some of these screens radiate.

Why exactly is this game called "Panzer Dragoon", when it doesn't appear to have any tanks in it?

It would be like me saying "Don't really see why Mario Sunshine is more exciting then (sic) others, it's a platformer...with a plumber... oh the revolution". Or "Don't really see why Halo is more exciting than others, it's a shooter...without dragons... oh the revolution". Or "Don't really see why Grand Tourismo is more exciting than others, it's a racer...with cars... oh the revolution". Does one need to go on ?

Well, in my opinion, any Mario game is pretty much pointless to me, I don't have any need to play another platform game in my life. I didn't see the point in Halo either, a horribly designed game like that doesn't appeal to me. I like GT3 though...

"Why exactly is this game called "Panzer Dragoon", when it doesn't appear to have any tanks in it?"

I believe it's trying to convey the dragons as some sort of flying tank. I'm not sure what's up with the german references though. The sequel on the Saturn was called Panzer Dragoon Zwei...

Played the demo at E3 and it looks very promising. The graphics are astounding, especially when you see everything moving. The way the dragon 'morphs' shape, along with the bezerk attack really add a polish that's lacking in a lot of games these days.

I think, personally, that it's a hardcore gamers game, though the pretty graphics will attract the hoi polloi...

Can't wait for its release...

Well they seem to have dug up random bits of military nomenclature to make the game sound warlike. Panzer = tank of course; dragoon = a kind of cavalry (see these nutters). No idea what Orta is supposed to bring to the mix.

Well then I look forward to "Draco: Attack of the Firelord", featuring the American Fifth Tank Platoon. And no dragons.

Fourth in the series? Damn, I'm confused. Wasn't Panzer Dragoon just a sort of nice looking shooter? And Panzer Dragoon Saga an RPG in the same universe? What was Panzer Dragoon Zwei? And which game is this a sequel to?

I played Panzer Dragoon on the PC a few years ago, but we quickly flicked back to playing Virtua Fighter 2.

First there was Panzer Dragoon - the shooter. Then there was Panzer Dragoon Zwei, the sequel, and lastly Panzer Dragoon Saga - the RPG. This is the fourth game in the series, and I suppose it's a sequel to PDZ.

Yes, this is probably what the game actually looks like and the rest are renders or something. Either that or the other ones are of the game as Sega originally made it, and these are the ones of how it looks now Infogrames have got their hands on it for Europe. ;)

You were the other person who purchased the nv1?? Or did the make a regular PC version later on, too?

Dunno. Is that a graphics card? It wasn't my machine; only a mates PC who had bought one of the first 3d graphics cards because Sega was supporting it and he thought that meant it was bound to succeed. Heh.

This was all in the days before Direct3d, of course.

Went back to my saturn a few days ago and had a quick blast on Panzer Dragoon... its terrible! even if i put aside the saturns resolution of what looks like 100x70 its a boring on rails shooter.

Lol, for a second I thought you were talking of an electronics market (there is one called "Saturn" here in Germany) and that the game was out already. But then I understood...

I have still got no real clue what this game is about, and it still looks wonderful. Although it's obviously something completely different, I feel reminded of Ico all the time

PD1 wasn't all that great but Zwei was ace even if it was just an on-rails shooter...had some great bosses and music and loads of replayability. Played pretty much exactly like starfox on the n64 with its lock on/take out groups of enemies style gameplay.
