    This is insanely powerful.
  • Razz #2 7 years ago

:O :O :O :O !!! If the game is as good as these graphics i might have to buy a PS3 much earlier than I anticipated!
  • L0cky #3 7 years ago

I'm taking a guess that this is prerendered, but using game content... I could be wrong.

Bah, it was so easy to tell in the last generation.
  • Scimarad #4 7 years ago

Uhhh, I'll believe it when I see it.
  • steve-o-87 #5 7 years ago

Did the person get out alive (big brother accent) U DECIDE
  • beep #6 6 years ago

There is a stark contrast in quality between the first three and the rest of the screenshots. I'd like to see a picture that isn't hidden by copious amounts of motion blur.

    Those bikes look _sparkingly clean_.
  • Nikanoru #8 6 years ago

Hmm. Newer shots looking considerably less detailed than the older ones.

OH WHOEVER WOULD HAVE FUCKING THOUGHT!!???

You're a big fat joke, Sony.
  • Talha #9 6 years ago

@Nikanoru : Yes, because in the history of mankind only Sony have used pre-rendered footage of upcoming games.

    Pathetic.
  • Nikanoru #10 6 years ago

rofl @ Sony fanboy trying to negate the obvious.
  • Talha #11 6 years ago

@!Nikanoru : Well I'd rather be labeled a Sony fanboy than ranting on against Sony (or any other company) just for no good reason. So thanks.
  • Nikanoru #12 6 years ago

I think I could just repeat my previous post in this space. Especially the last part.
  • Talha #13 6 years ago

@Nikanoru: Just tell me when you turn 8. I will send you a gift.
  • #14 6 years ago

    Can only say wow!

If this is what the game looks like Sony have a 360 killer for sure.
  • andrewwd #15 6 years ago

  • NoCodeNed2 #16 6 years ago

    No they're not.

Wow. It's quite easy this game, isn't it?
  • bauhaus #17 6 years ago

    they ingame or pre-renders?
  • andrewwd #18 6 years ago

Ok, my bad, I didn't look through them all. The first three are DEFINITELY fake as they're from last year's E3 big fakey-fake-a-thon. Not sure about the last 7 though, they could be 'in engine'

everybody knows the first few shots are fake FMV made over a year ago
  • Teeth #20 6 years ago

    Still renders IMO
  • space_ace #21 6 years ago

but now it's time for stormy weather
  • Nikanoru #22 6 years ago

@Talha: you seem to have a bad comprehension problem. Instead of sending me a gift, use that money to get some help, mkay?
  • Teeth #23 6 years ago

    @Xiphos

What the hell are you talking about? Most of your posts are completely inane but this one takes the biscuit I'm afraid.

    fake
motion blur used to disguise ps3's shortcomings

So they're fake, and yet they're using motion blur to cover up the PS3's shortcomings (ergo they're in-game shots)? Which is it? Moreover, what shortcomings?

sony marketing dept. decision to not use CGI renders made on $10m render farms

Er... so not fake then? Also, your point is what?

motion blur 'cheaper' and much easier to confuse consumers

So not fake then? Cheaper than what? Who are you quoting? Why would it confuse consumers, who are used to such things as motion blur from movies and video games (granted such VG motion blur hasn't been very good until now)?

one day people, you'll get it

I doubt you'll ever make sense, but do at least give it a go.
  • drumbaby #24 6 years ago

Same lighting, solidity, motion, particle effects....but not quite as much detail as E3 2005. It looks astonishing still though. Will it get even better by launch?
  • UncleLou #25 6 years ago

Looking ok, but absolutely laughable compared to last year's CGI movie.
  • toy_brain #26 6 years ago

Not quite as good as last years renderthon, but a lot better than -that- screenshot that did the rounds a few months back and made everyone think it was a disaster.
  • Infinity #27 6 years ago

These shots do not look as good as the trailer released around E3 2005, but still better than current gen titles. I guess we have to wait for PS4 before we see true photorealistic graphics in games.
  • Perry #28 6 years ago

Starting to think this will be rather good, pending that it is a good game of course.

They look real to me, but I know very little about this geeky techy-athon
  • Blerk #29 6 years ago

Which are the new shots? The first ones or the last ones?
  • Blerk #30 6 years ago

Videos as animated GIFs? What madness is this? o_O
  • ancient #31 6 years ago

motion blur is a sophisticated effect and costs rendering time to acheive its not in there to cover anything up it will be what gives this game a great sense of speed, a pity this game is going to be so graphically fantastic, considering i find driving games ultimately boring. I do 3d rendering and building visualisation for a living, and its realtime rendering like this that is making most people who are involved in non realtime rendering miffed, man you need big budgets to acheive results like that visually. my only problem with ps3 games lineup so far was if you were to remove all the gun based fps shooting games, japanese inspired sword based games, sports sims, and the driving ones youd reduce the sony catalog of games to about 5 games in total at the moment, the gaming genre's nowadays have become very stayed, what will we do about it ? where has the gaming innovation gone, well theres some alive on the WII but even the WII can afford to be slack on the innovation front, as it has little competition, by the looks of the other consoles. Oh and by the time we in europe will get these consoles it will good weather again spring/summer, what a great time to launch an indoor poduct !? pre christmas launch is always best but theyve balsed it up this time. oh and cheers for this gaming site not having a category for macs, but i guess every decent game us mac gamers get our hand on has been on the PC already so we may as well look there :-)!

if the game isn't as good as it looks i'll sell my console and games and make a bit in the process not a hard choice
  • Skooch #33 5 years ago

    Two things...

Firstly, I thought there was no in-car view as the different vehicles available mean you need to be acutely aware of what's around you in order to position yourself correctly on the track (i.e. if you're driving a monster truck how do you see a motorbike next to you from an in-car perspective). These screenies show an in-car view which makes me suspicious.

Secondly, I played Motorstorm on the PS3 at the Game-On exhibition and it was distinctly underwhelming. The graphics were good but a little too arcadey (IMO) but my main problem was the view when cornering. Instead of keeping the camera behind the vehicle so you can actually see where you're going, instead, the camera seems to swing sideways so you end up looking at the side of your car on a sharp corner instead of being able to see where you need to turn. This makes the game great for admiring your car, but incredibly annoying for the actual racing.
  • in5ane #34 5 years ago

Looks too arcadey? It's a very arcadey game, and anyone expecting otherwise will be disappointed.

I have the game, and don't like the in-car view. I think you do need to see quite a lot of the surrounding track to actually win at this game as there is a lot of bouncing around. I know some people like the in-car on motorstorm tho as it does look better, and gives a better sense of speed.
  • jimlad #35 5 years ago

looks amazing, but there is way too much motion blur
