Isn't this just Monkey Ball but with Mercury?

    How original!

No because unlike Super Monkey Ball you have to tilt the PSP around to play it. And anyway I think this is the kind of game (like Lumines) that we should be encouriging for the PSP; fun pick up and play type puzzle games.

Maybe I should rename myself ;-)

Kafuffle: do you really have to tilt the PSP? It didn't read like that to me, and I didn't know that the PSP had a tilt sensor (not that this means it doesn't of course!)

If it worked by tilting the PSP it would truly be genre defining.

As it stands it doesn't look anything like genre defining, merely using graphical polish to sell an old idea.

Ouch. This is a little too close to one of my concepts to be bearable. I look forward to this, but I'd love it even more if it wasn't already quite similar to the game I wanted to do. Ahh bitter sweet moments.

[Edit] Err, not to imply Archer is looking in my bag of tricks or nothing. That'd be dirty! It's a fairly common concept to come up with when considering the tilting mechanism, so there's no reason that such a similar idea would be anything more than coincedence. Oh shit. Now I'm insulting his originality! This isn't good! I take it all back! I'm looking forward to the game alright? Leave me alone!

Not really. They did this in "Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble" on the GBA. It had a solenoid sensor in the gamepak and you tilted the GBA to roll little Kirby about.
Dont know if the PSP has a sensor in the hardware itself though. Actually it must do, since PSP games come on discs - *duh me* :P

Shouldn't the mercury be reflecting the scene? I mean, looks nice enough in stationary shots but when it's moving and the reflection is completely static, it's gonna ruin the illusion a tad.

Agreed, they need some reflection mapping on that ball.

Looks like a Symbian game I saw recently. On the phones it uses the camera to detect movement though.

Could be nice... if it has three fighters onscreen at once ;)

Actually no, the PSP hardware doesn't have tilt sensors, so unless there'll be an addon I don't know where anybody got the idea this would be tilt sensitive.

Though if it's as good as SMB then please, sign me up.

....if I ever get a PSP that is.
