Oh yes. Gameplay. No doubt about it. That's gameplay alright. Yes sirreee.

    lol!

When the site gets redesigned can we have a section for screenshots and a section for 'blatantly pre-rendered concept art pretending to be screenshots'? :-)

Har, these have to be the most overly tampered-with shots I've seen: but I thought I'd get them anyway!

gameplay is going to be a little slow if we have to wait for an artist to touch up every single frame.
  • Spanky #5 7 years ago

That is one impossible pose they've got spiderman in, his pelvis is attached to the right side of his ribcage.

They coulda touched them up a bit more ;)

Isn't that Riddick in the first shot?

    /calls Vin Diesel's lawyers
  • tengu #7 7 years ago

WTF is with Wolverine's look in that first shot?
  • Thamuhacha #8 7 years ago

    >WTF is with Wolverine's look in that first shot?

Good point. If they have touched these up, they could have made him look half decent.

Riddick looks like he'd have a hard time winning a fight with his right leg half the length of the other.
  • saiwun #10 7 years ago

How do you know they've been touched up? I hear there's a demand for being able to prove that at the moment.

Btw, the correct term is 're-touched,' but that sounds a bit like a fiddler going back for seconds.

Doesn't take a genius to see past these shots. The lighting and shadowing give it away somewhat.

Pretty stuff, but not exactly the real deal.
  • Blerk #12 7 years ago

I wouldn't even say they'd been 're-touched' - they're 'concept art', not screenshots. They're not even taken from the game.
  • Kami #13 7 years ago

Exactly Blerk... the lighting and shadowing are just not right for a game. As I said, pretty shots, but not the real deal...

    Thus said the experts.

Jeez guys, it's just some overdone yellow guraud, it's not even normal mapped! Throw a bit of bloom over it and tada. It doesn't look "wrong for a game", the point of it is obviously to make stylised comic-y graphics.

The only thing wrong is that they've obviously been resized from those insane resolution dev shots.
  • Kami #15 7 years ago

I understand it's supposed to look all "comic-y", but come on. The first screenie was what gave it away for me - overkill on everything in that pic.

I don't profess to be an expert... but these screenies just don't add up. Why two screenies only? Why two completely different screenies? If they had some actual in-game footage, don't you think we'd have more screenies?

Make your own mind up, but I still don't believe this is in-game footage. I think we're being fed these pre-rends until they have better in-game code and footage...

Not saying that they are in fact ingame shots, I mean, there's no life bars etc. However, it's nothing that any ingame graphic engine of a couple of years old couldn't handle (other than the eXtreme AA). It's just nice artwork, existing stuff used in a good way, but nothing's even remotely technically impressive about it. Like I said, guraud shading, some bloom (and you know what that can do for the prerendered look), oh and the smoke in the first one is all just blurry textures if you're paying attention.

There's absolutely no reason why the final game shouldn't be able to look like that, if they tried just a little bit. Let's hope they do.

No reason at all EXCEPT there's a clue in the bottom right of first two pictures
