No one has said if it's pre-rendered footage or not, Sony are just showing it as a game trailer...

it doesnt look prerendered to me, it looks like it could be ingame.. espeically since the video clip on ign looks like someone is actually playing it.

There's no way that can be ingame. I think it's just a well thought out piece of FMV that makes it look like they're playing. Even if it was for real, think of all the scripted events involved - you'd only be really playing for a couple of seconds of that. Still, very impressive.

Ehh, if it's FMV than what's the fucking POINT?

With all the cum spraying going around, SURELY the PS3 can handle something like this?!

Jesus.

Do you guys really think this is prerendered shit? I'd love to know. I've seen the vid, like everyone else has I'm sure. I think if they wanted it to be prerendered it would look much better no? I mean it could, couldn't it? If it really is in game, then I think we're in for one hell of a ride next year!

What exactly is the official line from Sony regarding this? Have they actually said its realtime at anypoint? I'm pretty much certain that this is prerendered stuff, theres no way that this can be delivered given the specifications of the machine. I can understand showing a FMV as a game trailer to give you an idea of what the style of the game will be, but prerendering first person videos and calling it "gameplay" is downright deceitful.

This is what makes me think its prerendered:

-Motion blur. Theres no way it can be done at this quality in realtime.
- Volumetric smoke. Pretty daft of Sony to try and pass this off as realtime. Yes, I know the PS3 can handle it in the tech demo, but that would have been pushing it to the very limit. This contains a whole environment to go with it and is definately prerendered.
-High polygon counts. The characters don't appear to have been normal mapped, but just rendered high-poly. This is given away by the smooth profiles of the characters. Another example is the tyres on the car. Even if the PS3 could handle this many polys, any modeler worth his salt would have used them elsewhere in architecture etc.
-The flamethrower. Theres no way we'll be seeing realtime fluid dynamics in this way in the next generation of games.
-The first person view. This doesnt move in the same way as a real person controling the view would. Theres too much springness, which looks nice but would very annoying to play with.

As an animated short though, I still find it impressive, even for prerendered stuff. I wonder if the guys that made this feel at all guilty for doing Sony's dirty work.

Surely NO-ONE actually believes this is realtime - Possible maybe, but not currently realtime.
