Well..........lots of replay shots, which always looked nice. Some actual gameplay shots would be nice, apparently it's all looking very swish.

Yeah, we all know GT looks gorgeous.

Now we want the game to actually play well too. I don't want catchup logic, and terrible AI. I want to know that my result at the end of the race is down to my driving skills over the whole race, not how well I do on the last two corners

    Looks like a SNES game.

I'm pretty sure this has been done before, this... this... racing thing.

Hey, look at the pic of the lancer rally stage...looks like it might have a damage model... someone's definitely kinked the front of it in (look at the bonnet)

The AI cars look to be driving in procession form... hmm. I want to see CPU cars colliding, proper crash physics, spinning out from trying too hard.. AND for goodness sake being able to roll!!

edit: sounded like a dodgy Japanese translation, due to missing letters/words.

Ohh please be quiet. Us GCers have to sit and watch this while Mr Developer provides us with sweet FA in the rally department.

    I think I'm gonna cry.

Sorry but as good as Gran Turisimo games look they get so boring after about 10 laps. I traded my GT3 in for spyro :-)

I hope they sort the "game" side of it out this time - GT3 looked the nuts but played no better than GT on the PS1. And it only looked great in the replays - actually in game it didn't look quite as good for some reason (Probably just my phuqqed up eyes :)

So overall, more of the same then.

Umm, surely the PS2 can't render anywhere near the resolution of these pictures on a TV? These look like pictures shot on a dev machine, with antialiasing on.

Edit: well, I mean some of the high-res pics in between here

Eh? Most of the pictures are 640x448, it's only the last few that are blown up.

edit: I hate it when the edit message is bigger than the whole post! And does it really have to be in bold?

Playing against another human makes ALL the difference. I have used the iLink and it ROCKS!

    500+ cars & 200 courses = bliss to me. :)

Oh my Gawd! These shots are amazing! I've owned all the GT games and I've always believed they were just that bit better than anything else. However, that said, something went wrong with GT3. It lost most of it's used cars (a big deal to me) and some sensation of speed. So here are my demands.

I want the sensation of speed back
    I want used cars back
    I want cars that flip
I want the bonnet view available in all other driving simulators
I want damage (though due to sniffy manufacturers that wont happen)
I want Ferraris and real Porsches (so that I can slap the ferraris around with my 911 GT-3)
I want more sex in my life... oops, did I say that out loud?

I'm loving the look of that replay manager. I expect there will be a KMph and Mph switch like most racing games. GT3 certainly had one.

Well, if Polyphony have got anything right in GT, it is lighting. The fact that PGR2 loses out to GT3 in visuals, despite being on oh-so-superior XBox, proves that GT is a product of passion, a labour of love. I do not imagine anyone else putting in as much effort into a racing game.

Good grapic's BUT the 10 sec time penalty sucks... Still no car damage. Good thing i'll get forza and gt4. Damn this is 2004. Car damage please. And yes i've got the prolouge. So the time penalty most definitivly sucks, big time
  • chronom4n #23 8 years ago

i jope gt4 brings back the ghost mode of gt2 whereby u were givern the option of different ghost cars in time trial mode e.g translucent right up to solid depictions of th ghost car and the most important thing for me that is messed up in gt3 is the sound of the ghost cars. they sound is non-existent. GT1 and GT2 had sound on the ghost cars. you would be surprised how much of a difference sound makes when doing a free run. imagine this if u will, u are up by 2 thousandth of a second on your favourite track and all you can hear is is your best lap coming up behind you. you need to improve your lap time and all you can hear is the engine screaming behind you. Now for me something like that is AWESOME and really adds to the gameplay. anyone who has played gt2 will attest to that. Hope i have not been waffling on too much but that is what would make my day.
