This would work better if the action was on the top screen and the stylus input was on the bottom, ala fps controls.

Agreed - otherwise most the time you aint going to see what half your screen is doing. Which looking at the screen with the ship at the bottom seems to be exactly what they are doing.

so how is shooting controlled? Do you aim with the touchpad and move with the D-pad? Wont that make it harder because the D-Pads digital nature will restrict ability to weave in and out?

Uh, that looks extremely bad.
So poor graphics, poor gameplay (quess) and a full price-tag for a game that you can download from LIVE os PS-Network for a much less money..?
They sure know how to make money from nothing.
