Is it me or are racing games the hardest to judge from screens?

Looks nice. But no red shells / rock'n'roll soundtracks in evidence so will not be joining the 2 racing games I actually like.

Will this be another 25 fps racing game like PGR2? /:|

Hard indeed. And you don't know the framerate.
  • pjmaybe #4 8 years ago

It's it's got a high frame rate and looks like that, then it'll be OK

If it's got a high frame rate and looks like that but isn't released till Q5 2005, it'll be way too late.

What the hell was wrong with the 25fps on PGR2?? I've never had a problem with it?

/looks forward to some real screenshots rather than ones taken with the 'special screenshot button'...

Hey look another motor racing game! Somebody wake me up when the universe implodes.

Especially since you'll spend most of your time using the cockpit view or 'behind the car' view, and the PR people keep on releasing screens from the replays.

Hmmm. For the first time I wonder preferring PS2 over Xbox was wise. Come to think of it, I only did it because of GT3. That said, this is the first version of a Microsoft product, so it is likely to SUCK (I so wish it does!!!!). Kudos to MS to keep something so big so secret for so long, and for making the right move.

It looks nice, but these shots already show that like PGR2, this game also cannot match the superb lighting of GT3/4.

Imagine if GTA3 was actually as good as everyone made out.

    That would be nice indeed.

But let's talk about the brilliant GT3 again!

looks pretty good, but it lacks the gritty realism of GT3 - i think its down to the lighting and some dodgy track texturing, you can see the texture seems in some of the screenies.

having said that, in motion it must look bloody good!
  • Zero Beat #13 8 years ago

They couldn't be arsed to transition between the track and roadside properly. Track. SHARP EDGE! Dust. Wonderful. And the car detail texturing is actually worse than GT4's, not exactly what I call playing to Xbox's advantages.

aaaaah it looks too colourful and cartoony, xbox needs a real looking racing game... i know it can render one but nobody will bloody make one
  • BLACKSHEEP #15 8 years ago

There is just no emotion in those shots! Microsoft can only do the Uber-Gloss so many times before it gets jaded ^_^
  • Scimarad #16 8 years ago

It does look curiously empty compared to GT4 but then I suppose it isn't finished yet.

Anyway, what was up with PGR2's framerate? I thought it was fine...
  • chronom4n #17 8 years ago

As hard as i try nothing matches GT3 and GT4 for sheer realism in the cars. I have played a few of the top notch 'box games and i always come away with the same conclusion. GT rocks. BTW, the lighting in replays for TOCA2 on 'box.... did they have a guy who intentionally shines a torch on the windscreens and bodywork to get the lighting to work?! and the box is supposed the better than the ps2?

There's a little difference in the wat gt4 and forza in made grapicaly... Gt4 uses photo mesh tecnology, wich leads to flat 2d like backgrounds. Forza is rendered and drawed all trought, and the polishing of it is not finished by far yet. I got both demos, gt4 and forza. And in my opinion forza has more realistic handling than gt4. Forza is also much more unforgiving than gt4, wich is not a good thing if you havent got the patience for the trail and error part of it. So wich of the who are the best is purely down to patience and taste.
It's not hurting that forza got 150 brand licenses for aftermarked parts.... That's more than nfsu2 got

why do people crave super-hyper-mega-realistic games?
I've played this on the OXM cover disc this month, looks very nice, plays well, but I won't be buying it as it would quickly annoy the hell out of me, like the GT series. If you want realism, step outside there's quite enough realism out there for all of us.

I've played the Demo it is good I must be crap at it though cos i ended up last on my first few goes. This is a GT4 beater no doubt about it
  • ParticleMan #23 7 years ago

I played the demo and I was good, but the game was crap. Didn't look or play anything special.
