    welcome, fotorealism!

I have never understood this game.

It's really only now that the scenery is good enough to warrant flying around just looking at stuff. But even so ....

I once had a copy of Bill Gates' book in japanese (don't ask why... well ok you can if you want but it's not a great story), and the only bits I could read were where "Microsoft Flight Simulator" was written in big english letters amid the pretty japanese pictures. Reading that book was more thrilling than MS Flight Sim actually is to play...

Bring back Chuck Yaeger's Air Combat i say - I miss being able to fly my F16 again 3 squads of 15 B52 bombers and landing with my 'swiss cheesed' plane :D

Graphically, I am not impressed. but all that matters is how airplanes are handled ... Handling qualities has always been the problem . GET IR RIGHT or I ....

I have owned every version back to FS II on the c64 (truly amazing program for the machine) and based on these pictures I think the tradition will be continued. Weird thing is I never play them that much, just always feal with a pc I sould have a copy. Go figure..

    It's a great day for flying ;)

Now where the heck did I put those disks?

I don't think it looks that great, very artificial. And what's with the water - like the first shader attempts a few years ago. :/

I bet that if i want to see the detail shown in those photos on my PC, i'll have to mortgage my home...
    Bah... Humbug

Is it just me, or is it really that FS 2004 looks like CRAP on my 6800GT? Is there any way to improve the looks?

@Maxisleep: I can fully understand your feeling. I also cannot bring myself to erase FS2004 and SimCity 4 from my PC - though I don't play them often but it is good to know they are there.

Talha: There's loads of addons on avsim and similar sites. You can use them to enhance the visuals a lot.

And for the rest of you: Yes, the graphics might be a bit low-standard when you compare them with [insert combat simulator here], but remember that this covers the entire planet. As a FS fan, and a member of a virtual airline, I don't think that the graphics is the important bit. The exitement comes from setting down a 747 with engine faliure in a storm at Hong Kong's old airport. :)

Microsoft: please make a driving simulator.

    That is all.
