    Well I hated the pc version, and i dont think fps games work on consoles (and that includes halo).

    So i wont be getting this.

    How exactly do you come to the conclusion that looks shit?

    Troll...

    We already understood you completely missed the point of the game, no need to keep repeating it. ;p

    neon and statix. :)

    Nah, to be fair, I see where they are coming from. It's not a game if you're after pretty setpieces and spectacular levels. But it has the most satisfying and visceral combat in any FPS ever, and I am glad they spent their development time on these core gameplay elements rather than on fancy levels.

    Not to forget that it's phenomenally pretty.

    Just thought you might be talking about smelly for some reason.

    @UncleLou

    Maybe I missed something? At first i LOVED the "poo yer pants" scary moments, but i soon got bored and the game went a bit samey and dull for me. Does it get better?

    @BartonFink

    What the fecking hell is your problem? Cant someone talk about a game without you turning it into a fecking fanboy console war or something?

    I'll say this ONE more time, as you're obviously too fecking stupid to understand this the last 500 times i've said it. Sorry about this people:

    I DONT CARE ABOUT THE PLATFORMS - I'LL BE GETTING ALL 3 EVENTUALLY ANYWAY. I CARE ABOUT THE *GAMES*. YES I'M A FAN OF NINTENDO GAMES - BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN I "LOVE" THE NINTENDO HARDWARE (WHICH I HAVENT EVEN FECKING SEEN RUNNING YET).

    NOW FECK OFF YOU SAD CHILD.

    Right.. now back to the serious discussion. Can someone tell me, does FEAR get any better? Is it worth me picking up and starting again? Was the bore fest i was encountering after a few hours of play just because it was the start of the game? Or what?

    Any thoughts?

    I used to think that Fear was a dire 'one boring corridor after another' game, and then I played Condemned. It makes Fear look like a magical trip through a psychedelic wonderland.

    of all the screen caps they could have released, they decided on this one?
  • Talha #11 6 years ago

    @UncleLou : Well, if 'core gameplay elements' include just the (admittedly glorious) firefights, I guess devs should do away with any semblance of surrounding and landscaping and set the game against a blank white background. For me at least, the setting and the physical landscape is an integral part of an FPS.

    Just imagine - can we enjoy racing games with just one track? Tennis games with just one kind of court surface? Platformers with the same puzzles in the same rooms over and over? Forgive me, but that is how bad the monotony in FEAR is.

    Ultimately it is a one-trick pony - good AI, good explosions, good particle effects. (OK three tricks). FEAR almost touches greatness, but I am stuck in the middle of it and I have little or no desire to continue forward - a real shame surely.

    You can never have too much grey in a game.
