Immediately made me think of Worms 3D! :-)

Very similar to the 'multiplayer' game in donkey kong 64

They look exactly the same (only slightly more polished) as one of the multiplayer games in Conkers BFD on the N64. They might be fun over Xbox Live but from what very little i've seen so far i've not been at all impressed with Rare's output so far.

Well, at least it's not yet another tired Banjo1, Bad Fur, Banjo2, SFAdventures rehash.

I agree with Rad: this looks like an N64 port. Small, low-res textures and uninspired graphics. )C:

    *rubs eyes for double take*

Not that I'm a graphics whore... but I agree the graphics look incredibly dated, when compared to other games that are "colourful". Bad Fur Day was a sweet game for its time. But it doesn't LOOK like it has made much progress since the N64 and that may be one factor against it...

It'll probably sell on the back of it's sick humour and bad language... we weep for you Rare. We weep for what you have become... mind you, it is true technically, Rare staff went elsewhere... and by god does it show. :-(

I'm still interested in playing it, but the first impressions leave something to be desired... I expected better somehow... this is Rare. Usually you can SEE the genius. Usually you can FEEL the love in the screenshots. I'm not getting anything from these except a feeling that Rare should be doing better.

Demanding? Rare were the kings of gaming. They could blow you away with their games, cute or not. I think I'm demanding purely because... well. I expected better...

    Message to Rareware.

I f***ing bought the last game.
I could`nt give a monkeys about the online element.
I have been waiting a long time for you to get off your arses and conjur up the old magic again!

    BOTTOM LINE

The single player experience BETTER HAVE some decent new content or f***ing else!!!!!!

i can't see the "incredibly dated graphics" of you talk about. ok, so theyre not cutting edge perhaps, but i dont think the game looks that bad at all.
im not saying that there is this for sure, but i think that maybe some slight exaggeration is going on in this thread.

Trouble is Eurogamer don't timestamp screenshots so it's hard to work out which shots people are on about. The Old War shots here are obviously from very early code whereas the Future War or whatever they're calling it, T2 themed looks... incredible considering the scale and amount of explosions that can be going off at any one time.

Funny, the old shots still look better than a majority of Xbox games still.

I think you have missed a vital part dyllan. Microsoft owns rare, this game is and will be xbox only

It seems Eurogamer has become the developer of Conker live and reloaded somewhere in this comments thread.

    Fuck knows how.

Kami I don't know what build of screens you were loking at last year, but the game looks 'freakin gorgeous! one of the best looking games on xbox, you have to see it running. And the sick humour and bad language is...tongue in cheek, thats why the language is blipped out. The game refuses to take anything seriously, so why are you taking it so seriously. It also happened to be a really fresh, innovative experience in the game play department, (it doesnt need to rely on the humour and language) with lots of variety, context sensitive acttions no collectahons. I'd play it again, with shiny new graphics, in a simlilar way to The Twin Snakes, or Resi Gamecube.
