Arguably there's no such thing. However The laws of cricket will give you a very detailed introduction.
Alternatively:
You have two sides: one out in the field and one in.
Each man that's in the side that's in goes out and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.
When they are all out the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out.
Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When both sides have been in and out including the not outs, the game ends.

Ended up buying the original BLC three times -- once to start with, then had that nicked, so got another, then sold it when I got the EA version, discovered that was shite, so went back to BLC (but this time the PC version).
I want full career stats, with centuries/wickets and best scores/returns for each player, including non-player countries. BLC did this a little, but didn't have full stats. EA just had a series-long table, but at least it had all the information.
Just my 2.0f cents. :-)
