Thought this was multiplatform? It's on the Cube Europe news anyway (same screenshots).

    Looks very nice indeed.

Anybody know what formats this is going to be on??

To quote from the press release: "Project BG&E is scheduled to ship to retail shelves in the 1st Quarter of 2003 with availability on all next generation consoles and PC."

Hmm... except these pictures are quite obviously from cut-scenes and not in-game action. I'll reserve judgement.
  • Gestalt #5 10 years ago

Well the screenshots had filenames like "BG&E_PS2_hovercraft.psd", so I'd hazard a guess they're from the PS2 version. ;)

Those shots look antialiased. Could this be? Or are we just looking at cutscene video shots?
  • Ubiman #8 10 years ago

All screenshots are in game. None of these are cut scenes/FMV.

This has completely slipped my attention until now. Looks very nice, though the air/space-craft pics look like from a different game than the rest of the screens. Is it a jump'n' run, basically?
If those are normal in-game shots, however, why does it have big black borders?
  • Gestalt #10 10 years ago

That must be the PAL version. ;)
  • UncleLou #11 10 years ago

As it is a European developer, maybe they program it with borders so they can simply stretch the screens for the US version. However, the characters look normal, so we get the borders, and the rest fo the world gets a full-screen game, but unnaturally stretched characters, and the game runs too fast for them. A fair chopping up of conversion problems, me thinks.

Remember seeing a vid for this on a cover CD ages ago and it peaked my interest, these screenies are looking better than I remember the vid being.

Oh and is it just me or are the thumbnails at the top all squiffy?

Uncle Lou, that has to be the most retarded 50/60Hz fix ever... :P
  • Blerk #14 9 years ago

It would've been nice to see some shots of the game and not just shots of the pre-rendered cut-scenes.

That said, this shot takes video-game breasts to a whole new level! Properly modelled nipples? Wow. Talk about bump-mapping. :-)
  • ray #15 9 years ago

Find yourself real breasts. The pixel-based just cannot compare . They even have really natural-looking bump maps incorporated. And the frame rate is also superb!

Seen it in action on playfrance.com and apart from some slowdown (could be just my real one player~) it looks amazing for a PS2 game. I doubt Xbox could look much better. I hope it has some decent gameplay to match those lush visuals as i'm getting tired of 99% crap from Sony.
  • Eppo #17 9 years ago

This reminds me of games like Little Big Adventure and Outcast with their lush, colourful gameworlds to explore. Am really looking forward to this one...

Oh dear.. here we go again....
  • BLACKSHEEP #19 9 years ago

Why do we have to slag off PS2 games because of the way they look? It's inevitable that developers find better ways of getting good AA and effects from the convulted machine, Just look at MGS3 compared to 2.

If the game plays well then so what if it don't look as good as bloody xbox TM. .\/.
