I've never played an Armored Core game. Are they good?

Buy parts to build your own mech and do missions for money. That's about all there is to it, besides the storylines of course, but it's fun. The customisation possible is quite nice and t's pretty easy to play, if a tad clunky.
Didn't hurt that the previous PS2 versions were all budget releases either.

From what I remember though (I haven't played any since AC2) you need to be patient and enjoy tailoring your Mech to each mission you play.
