Square Enix clarifies PSP game reveals News

PSP News by Robert Purchese

5 August, 2008

Following preliminary announcements at an event in Japan last weekend, Square Enix has confirmed to Eurogamer that it has two meaty RPGs on the way to PSP.

The first PSP-bound title is The 3rd Birthday, the latest instalment in the Parasite Eve series, which began on PSone in the late '90s as an excellent blend of RPG and horror. But it's a spin-off rather than a core game, hence the odd title.

Final Fantasy Agito XIII, originally a mobile game, is the other heading to PSP. Agito XIII was unveiled moons ago alongside FF XIII and FF Versus XIII. Like those, Agito is part of Fabula Nova Crystallis, or "the new tale of the crystal".

Like Parasite Eve, we know next to nothing about Agito XIII, or whether the mobile version will continue to exist. We have no idea when Agito will be released, either. Fat lot of help we are, eh? At least for more on Final Fantasy XIII you can check out our E3 preview of that.

Them Squenix chaps, what whore's they are.
Always going for the popular one.

Good thing for PSP owners though. New games from Japan could be the spark the whole PSP dev scene needs atm.

More PSP sales for Japan then, not that it appears to need any help right now!

More excited re Parasite Eve then FXIII Agito, Crisis Core didnt really light my world on fire even though I played FVII in total 5 times or so over the past decade.

FX2, Dirge of Cerbebus and what? Milking the cash cow?

Need to give benefit of doubt, hoping that both ll turn out great.

Whoopee, more PSP RPGs! Hopefully Agito won't turn out to be an NGage port.

Sweet, here's hoping Before Crisis:FFVII and MGS Mobile (I know its Konami, can still wish though) get released on the psp.

Didn't think much to Parasite Eve 2, the first one was pretty good though.

Any chance Xenogears, Brave Fencer Musashi and Einhander get ported to the psp Squenix?
