Splinter Cell Conviction coming in April

Not delayed for too long, then.

Delayed sneak-'em-up Splinter Cell Conviction has reappeared on the radar with an April 2010 date.

The PC and Xbox 360 game was delayed from a pin-pointed 26th February date earlier this month, with publisher Ubisoft citing "a bit more polish" as the reason for the move.

Conviction follows Sam Fisher on a journey of revenge - a fire he fuels by smashing people's heads into crusted urinals on his hunt for information.

Sneak into our gamepage below for the gossip so far.

Really looking forward to this. I hope all these delays actualy are just for extra polish and not because of a bigger problem...
    Fingers crossed!

I'll be awaiting the reviews on this one, what's been shown has been a bit to far from what was expected for it to be an instant buy.

Sneak into our gamepage below, Splinter Cell Conviction style: by blowing up the front door and storming in with guns blazing, while brutally killing as many people as possible. You know, stealthy!

Really excited for this, but I have a bad feeling this will be one of those games where it's all fuckin' awesome at first, but quickly wears off and becomes rather dull and repetitive in the end.

    Please be good!

Hmmmm, April... maybe I was right with my "put a sure-fire hit in the next financial year" hypothesis!

That splishity-splash you hear is me pissing on this game and the people who made it.

Damn, too many games coming in April. Hopefully it'll be crap and I won't have to buy it!

I won't hold them to this date until it's in my hands...getting bored of it now and it's not even released. haha

Fair enough, extra Splinter Cell polish is worth it.

More games in February so this is good. It wont be crap. Trust me.

There's a lot already due out in April, I'm thinking this might have less to do with moving a big hit to the next fiscal year and more to do with finding a crippling issue with the game that would cause it to fail Microsoft's QA approval. Considering that even after polishing they'd need to submit it a minimum of three weeks prior to the street date that means the delay has been a month tops, just how much better can they make it in such a short space of time?

Haven't really got the patience for stealth games myself, but love games with a tactical edge to them, this Splinter Cell should fit the bill nicely. Shame it's an exclusive, would much rather play it on the PS3 than the PC but at least it is coming to PC I guess so I'll at least get to try it out.

My friend Pre-Ordered this game for the PS3 from Gamestation. When I told him the sad truth he was totally confused. How on earth can Gamestation not be on top of this with their gaming-know-how staff?

Then this should do you nicely because I have yet to see any of the stealth features show up in screenshots and videos, and in past interviews they've all but admitted that they removed the stealth.

Just ordered my copy from Play...I need that torch ;)

I don't see why UBI have to emphasise stealth when it's the staple of the series, of course it hasn't been removed.
Sure their vids have been promoting the new features, but to say none of the vids show any element of stealth is utter bullshit. Of course, if you don't like like what you see, don't buy it.

I don't see why UBI have to emphasise stealth when it's the staple of the series, of course it hasn't been removed.

According to interviews, they 'toned down' the stealth to open up the series to new players. As far as I can tell from the material released so far, 'toned down' means 'removed'. I'd love to see where in the videos there's any sense of stealth. I have yet to see a video in which Sam is not smashing faces through mirrors, dropping huge containers on people or just plain shooting them.

Of course, if you don't like like what you see, don't buy it.

I won't. I'm just telling Murton that if he doesn't like stealth, he might enjoy this.

Guess that means the demo's delayed too..
