Splinter Cell: Conviction dated

Update: mid-April date confirmed for Europe.

Update: Ubisoft has confirmed to Eurogamer that the game will be released in Europe on 16th April.

Original story: Ubisoft has said that Splinter Cell: Conviction will be released in the US on 13th April.

Well, that's not entirely true - Ubisoft has sent stones with "4.13.10" written on them to US journalists.

Apparently the stones were unable to comment on a European release date, so we've contacted Ubisoft for clarification.

But US retailers agree with their domestic stones on the 13th April date, so we would imagine a European slot the same week: probably 16th April.

Ubisoft has previously confirmed an April release for the game following the latest of many delays.

Check out our most recent Splinter Cell: Conviction hands-on to hear what the publisher has in store.

The game's due out on PC and Xbox 360.

Quick! Someone send some rocks and chiseling equipment to Polyphony digital.

Polyphony wouldn't be able to chisel the date as neatly as they wanted, and the stone wouldn't have enough features to be "The Definitive Stone With A Date On It".

Plus they'd have to release Stone:prologue to gauge peoples opinions first.

For all the jokes being put about on GT5 being delayed this game has been delayed for nearly as long.

GT5 is a touch more complex than some tom clancy garbage about a man in a gimp suit. This game was supposed to launch around the same time as MGS4.I wonder why they delayed it?
  • AtomicBanana #9 2 years ago

They delayed it because the AC crowd tech was better than what they'd developed among other things. I don't think there's really much cross over between the MGS series and splinter cell; they are opposite ends of the spectrum.

I personally don't care for MGS, love Splinter cell. Your mileage may vary.

@#4 ya, the first good one, why?

    @AtomicBanana
I was under the impression Assassins Creed simply implemented the technology they had been working on for Splinter Cell, and that it was the rather negative reception the game recieved is what caused them to rethink many of the mechanics. They abandoned the idea of trying to blend in with crowds in cities and decided to make something a ilttle more true to the previous games.

Yes, and then you could have a stone with 20XX on it.

And all gt5 equals is more of the same at least splinter cell is trying to do thing differently and introducing new stuff, the only reason gt5 is delayed is to put hundreds of cars in noone want to drive

Delays must be due to shared crowd/open world tech. I think they were working along Prince of Persia lines, which is quite alike the AC 1 controls. Both got a bit of a kicing so they went back to the drawing board I think. I do worry that AC3 will be a modern day affair that will rip of this latest Splinter Cell attempt. No facts to back this up at all of course!!
