Spielberg Wii game coming in May

Boom Blox. Contains mini-games.

The codenamed "PQRS" Wii puzzle title Steven Spielberg has been helping EA with has been officially unveiled. They've been planning this for a million years. We're beat to sh*t.

It's called Boom Blox, will be available in May, and is unsurprisingly made up of child friendly mini-games where you solve puzzles by using the Wiimote in quirky ways.

There are block-laying chickens and baseball-throwing monkeys to play around with, in a choice of Tiki, Medieval, Frontier and Haunted environments. Anne Lively, where is Anne Lively?

You can play it alone, co-operatively, or against your children if you want to win. You can even as make your own conundrums in Create Mode and share them over the WiiConnect24 Channel.

"I am a gamer myself, and I really wanted to create a video game that I could play with my kids," said Steven Spielberg riding a velociraptor. "Boom Blox features an enormous amount of fun challenges and cool scenarios for your kids to solve or for you to master together."

Let's hope his action-adventure game for 360 and PS3 proves a little more exciting, as this sounds about as good as A.I. with that little robot boy who had girls' hair.

No other designer in the whole of the games industry could possibly have come up with these ideas. Thanks Steven Spielberg!

Are you sure it's not called Steven Spielbergs Boom Blox?

I can see where they've used his talent on this one. It's cinematic.

Why doesn't he just buy a game he can play with his kids?

    Twat.

Yeah, it's a good thing they had a legendary director like Speilberg on board, otherwise how could Boom Blox have had such a cinematic and epic feel.

Just wait for the sequel! Ice and fire themes ahoy!

I'm not sure where Eurogamer are getting the idea it's a "mini game" collection. It's no more a mini-game collection than Lemmings or Tetris is as far as I'm aware. It's a puzzle game with lots of levels, different themes and an editor.

... Tiki, Medieval, Frontier and Haunted environments.

Oooh, Crystal Maze Wii game ahoy! Actually, thats not a bad idea.

I would imagine Richard O'Brien would be pretty cheap to hire, too...

brilliant, I'll have it....I have just spent the day brain storming for wii party games too. I love bandwagons, and jumping on them.

    Quick, to the Ellie-mobile!

I thought the game was actually called BOOM BLOX? Apparently the Caps Lock buttons of EA's creative department suffer from the same faults as that of my 12 year old niece.

I am anti upper-case titles. Apart from SEGA. But even that is silly. Tom will probably make me change it. He wields the pants around here now.

Mini games.. joy.. just what the wii needs.

I'm so not excited about this game that i've actually popped an inverted boner.

    Go figure.

Good on you Bertie, I agree. Smash the system, fight the power.

Spielberg makes a game he wants to play with his kids. Aimed at kids. Not wizened gaming online forum users most of whom are 'in the industry' and therefore for some reason I can't fathom heavily cynical by default.

Like lots of low metacritic Wii games, and some high metacritic ones too admittedly, kids play these games and parents buy them, and it would appear to have very little to do with the demographic represented here.

Still, we're all just expressing an opinion :) I'll wait to play it before i decide if it's blollox or get a boner inverted or not. Is that old fashioned?

Lucas' licensing people and TT have beaten him why doesn't he just go out and buy Lego Star wars the complete saga.
