Spidey sticks to top spot

Crackdown re-enters chart.

Activision has continued its winning streak by spending a third week on top of the All Format charts with Spider-Man 3, GamesIndustry.biz is reporting.

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars was close on its heels at number two, while the budget release of PES6 hogged the third spot.

Wii Play continued to show its popularity at number four, and Cooking Mama followed at five. EA's yearly updates of Tiger Woods: PGA Tour '07 and FIFA '07 were at six and seven this week.

Crackdown re-gained popularity thanks to the Halo 3 beta, re-entering the charts at eight, while Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training and Final Fantasy III took ninth and tenth, respectively.

Just a little aside, Spiderman 3 was released last week for the PS3, as it had some printing errors or such, hence it would've had a little boost in the past week.

And yes its quite possibly the most frustrating button mashing game ever... Still can't stop playing it though... :)

It's a sad day when a game re-enters the charts due to offering access to a Beta. Obviously these people don't really have any intention of playing the game or they would have got it earlier, so they are essentially paying £35 to enter a Beta...
    Sad.
    It's not even that good
  • Dizzy #5 5 years ago

Well it isn't hard to be number one if your game is available on 289837 different formats.

The game isnt that great infact to me its aweful however there's a huge amount of consumers that dont read reviews and only play casual so i can see why its still top.

    Advertising.

Crackdown is an amazing game. The best released so far this year imo. Good to see its success continuing, even if it is off the back of Halo's rampant popularity. Just so long as they play the host game, and come to the inevitable conclusion that it is brilliant, then the series will have a bright future ahead of it either way. Halo ftw!

Crackdown is great - some people may be buying it for the beta AND the game, especially recently as they have heard about the great DLC

"Crackdown re-gained popularity thanks to the Halo 3 beta"

Absolutely nothing to do with the 2 content packs and the TU introducing a host of new modes then?

Did I mention that I have all 800 Orbs? :-D
  • EmiliasHorse #16 5 years ago

No Skooch you forgot to mention that.

I'm waiting for the day when developers just release a film license game that just consists of a video of the main protagonist holding £40/€50/$60 in his hand and laughing hysterically. It will still sell as much as this tosh. Makes you want to weep for the species.

I loved the scene in Spiderman3 when he pauses in front of the Stars and Stripes, gave me goose bumps all over I can tell you...erm.

Is that bit in the game?

Not for the guys that worked on Crackdown its not.

Oh god, that stars and stripes bit made me feel ill. It wasn't a bad film, it was just throw away cinema popcorn fluff, that scene was just dire though.
