Special edition Burnout Paradise coming News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Ellie Gibson

31 October, 2008

Criterion has announced plans to release a special edition of hit racer Burnout Paradise.

Burnout Paradise - The Ultimate Box will include a copy of the game, of course, along with the Cagney and Bikes content updates.

More excitingly, you'll also get Burnout Paradise Party. This is a new offline multiplayer mode for up to eight players, pass-the-pad style. Apparently there are dozens of Burnout challenges to try out, including speed, stunt and skill events.

If you've already got a copy of Paradise, have no fear - the party mode will also be sold separately as downloadable content. There's no word on how much it'll cost, though.

Burnout Paradise - The Ultimate Box is out in February, which is also the date Criterion has announced for the launch of the PC version. Brrroom.

If the Burnout Party thing means the return of Crash Mode I'll care a lot, especially if its multiplayer. My wife and I loved playing Burnout 3 together, Paradise's lack of in-the-same-room multiplayer seemed like a real fuck you to non-loner gamers.

I care as well because I haven't bought it yet but I really want it. Let's see wether the ultimate box will be cheaper than a second hand copy or not.

No mention of crash mode yet for Burnout Paradise Party but the general guessing points to one of the islands being packed with some tasty crash junctions.

Subject to the price point, however, Party could be worthwhile if only to add variation to FPS and footie dominated games nights "with the lads"...

The penny drops - This is the fourth pack!? Where is the island...?? ;_;

I think the price is the most important factor here. How much will it cost - as if it's more than, say, £20 at the absolute most, then EA/Criterion can piss off.

However, if its sensibly priced I will be getting a PS3 soon and may check this out.

Makes sense for them to put this back on shelves. They do put all that effort into expanding the game, with more updates to come next year.

With all the support this game is getting from the dev I'd feel guilty if I didn't reward 'em. I have my new 320gb HHD now so on payday I think I'll invest in the download version.

Enough already with all the crash/street/ stunt/freeroaming/showstyle racing games.
Let's have some genuine racing games for christ sakes.

I know they've given us a hell of a lot for free, but they shouldn't charge for an offline multiplayer mode!

did i read that right? they are going to charge for the next downloadable content, well that is a downer because i don't think that they should charge for that. Although i have seen the multiplayer section on the criterion vidcast it does look real good but i think i missed the announcement that they will be charging for the downloadable content.
