Space Siege demo pops up
RPG from Gas Powered Games.
Gas Powered Games has popped out a PC demo for Space Siege.
The sampler, which comes in at just under 1GB, offers you the role of futuristic hero Seth Walker, an engineer tasked with saving humanity.
Space Siege is a bit like Mass Effect: there's a big story to unravel with lots of characters to meet and multiple paths to go down, plus plenty of character customisation through abilities, skills, and even a personal robot chum.
The trump card may be co-operative online play for up to four players with adjustable scenario options.
We shall find out when Space Siege is released on 22nd August and we'll have a review nearer the time.

Controls are a little strange...
It was good if there were some COVER actions..
More or Less like Dungeon Siege.
Maybe a buy..

Gameplay is standard point and click death and destruction, you can mess with physics too as there are a lot of crates and pipes lying around everywhere, that you can shoot and throw around (plus a surprising number of explosive barrels and gas tanks, considering the game takes place in a spaceship), skills and special abilities can be activated from a hotbar, more like Diablo than Dungeon Siege. The demo does not contain leveling up and I didn't see any XP bar or counter so I couldn't figure out how it all may work.
Also, there was a lot of buzz about trading your very humanity for cybernetic powers, but changing your arm and legs in the demo seems to bring no warning except for showing that your humanity bar will get X% shorter. In fact, you are encouraged to do it by some guy on the radio and it has no noticeable consequences, at least not in the demo. They could show more depth in the demo, in my opinion... I hope this is something that will be fleshed out in the full game, however, I expect there is little chance for improving the other things I mentioned.

As was said elsewhere - Shadowgrounds Survivor does all this much better.

Lots of abilities and techs you couldn't unlock in the demo, which seemed a bit stupid to me as it was more like a lick than a taster, but I liked the overall feel for it. Probable purchase for me.

I quite enjoyed it. Pretty much a higher budget shadowgrounds.
Consdering Shadowgrounds plays and looks significantly better although it is older, I am not sure where that higher budget is hiding. Well, maybe in the CGI films.
