Space Harrier now on Virtual Console News

DS Wii News by Ellie Gibson

29 May, 2009

Nintendo has released a trio of treats to download for the Wii and DS.

First up is Space Harrier, now available via the Virtual Console. It's the original arcade version of SEGA's classic shooter and will set you back 800 Wii Points, which is around GBP 7.

Or how about new WiiWare title Fish'em All!, which stars two fishermen called Jack and Walter. They live in a fantasy world where fish leap out of the water all day long. The game also costs 800 Points.

Or for the DSi there's Art Style: Nemrem (500 Wii Points). It's a logic puzzle where you have to match coloured panels with coloured spheres, using the stylus to slide them around. The challenge is to complete puzzles in as few moves as possible.

Fin.

GBP 7.

OK. The game is a classic but very short lived.
I'd much rather spent my hard earned cash on Rez HD on Xbox Live Arcade.

Yes, but £7 for one game when you can get compliations of several arcade games for £15 - £30 doesn't offer very good value.

As much as I love Space Harrier too.....

This game is an unlockable on the Sega Megadrive ultimate collection which I picked up for £15 on the 360 just last week.

It is a good game but the pricing is all wrong

That compilation has almost 50 games on it.

I can still remember queuing for the sit-down version on my hols. (Sandy Bay in Devon)

Three lovely coin-drop jingles as I push my 30 pence into the slot.

That huge joystick(!)

Pushing 'Start' .... 'Welcome to the fantasy zone.... etc'

The amazing music pumping out from behind you. The crowd of people watching...

And then... only lasting about a minute coz I was crap at it!

IIRC - the version I played gave you infinite lives for about 60 seconds anyway - before you got your standard 3 lives....

Good days.
