The teaser sucked it doesn't show any gameplay at all,just... Ivy's even bigger melons and even skimpier outfit.

What's interesting is that Famitsu revealed that Tekken 5 DR is going to get a online multiplayer patch... for a cost.

So Tekken 5 DR might be a bed test on Namco putting their fighting games online?

I hope there is online play as I was seriously good at Soul Calibur 1. I wonder if they'll do the faction based war type thing they did in the arcades for Soul Calibur 2.

I picked up SCIII for £13.22 from TheHut.com last week (in the original case too not the Platinum one) and it's excellent if not exactly vastly different from SCII on the Xbox/GC (which I still own). I'm not sure where Namco can take the series really on the PS3/360 as SCII wasn't that different from the DC version in my opinion. Obviously the visuals will be better...

I hope they don't try and tack on an online mode at the expense of the offline game because DOA4 on the 360 proved that online fighting games that rely on precise timings just don't work.

I loved SC3 and 1 (2 less for some reason, probably because the guy from Tekken wasn't as hot as GC LINK).

My list of must buys is getting longer and longer.

I thought DOA did kinda work online. They just need to fix it so that people with fast connections don't have to play people with slow ones. A couple of times I remember sitting in the lobby watching a full speed match when someone would join and the fight would slow to a crawl and the new guy would bitch about not being able to find a lag free game and dissappear resulting in the game going back to full speed.

Soul Blade played to death on the PS , I prefer the fights more weapons involved, DOA just does lack depth

Man, I love this series.

But could people please please please recognise the fact that there are 4 games and that soul blade on the PS1 was the original, not the DC version!!!

the PS1 version was ace. I especially liked the character profiles that listed Cervantes age as '48 (immortal)'

This is truly the best fighter there is IMHO. approachable for button mashers and WAGs but deep enough for you to really sink your teeth into if you want without needing to learn 15 button moves like mortal kombat.

Maybe it's the fact that you played the original to death on the DC that you didn't like the sequel as much? I mean I agree with you to an extent as I adored the DC version, it was polished and very addictive, but as amazing as SCII was, it's hard to deny it was anything other than just more of the same. I also loved SoulBlade on the PSone but the DC version felt like a completely different game to me. SCII and SCIII were just refined versions of the DC game rather than reinventions but I guess if it ain't broke, there's no reason to fix it, right? Obviously I'm looking forward to the fourth instalment but I really hope that Namco do something different with it even if it's only to have interactive, multi-tiered environments, that kind of thing.

How cool would it be if you could hack limbs off as a finishing move complete with a splat of blood... or have I just been playing Mortal Kombat too much? LOL

Well Soul Calibur has always been the sort of game where you can hit some in the head several times with a large axe with out them dying. Even when you win your opponent simply waits for the next round when all their health returns so I think missing limbs and fatalities are kinda out of step.

The DOA style levels would be a step in the right direction and I'm still suprised that DOA is the only proper beat-em up that uses it. SCs strength has always been in the radically different but balanced characters. I think use of the environment would be very sensible move (slightly more expanded then the silly wall moves in SCII). Oh and online would be great.

Liked Soul Edge, didn't really get into Calibur on the Dreamcast (even though it looked amazing), really liked SCII and absolutely hate SCIII. I guess I just didn't appreciate them completely changing half the moves around, especially for Ivy. They didn't remove em, just changed how you do em. It put me off, plus the new characters were complete nads.

Now you're talking! Yeah, be like the first title but vastly improved don't muddy the mix, keep it pure.

Mitsurugi was my favourite. Especially the Woodchop move. Top stuff. Also liked Li Long in the original.

Also, how good were the interactive ending sequences in the first game!! just remembered. they ruled.

I have heard several people say they really would love it if the hero from Gears of War, Marcus Fenix, is included in the Xbox 360 version of Soul Caliber 4 as a hidden character.

I agree it would be awesome to block with the big gun of Marcus Fenix, and attack with his strong body, and use the gun to bash people, and maybe do a throw where the gun's chainsaw effect is used.
