Sony declines to confirm Heavy Rain date

Are retailers lying about late February?

Sony's told Eurogamer that a release date for Heavy Rain remains unconfirmed, despite numerous retailers - including those with Special Edition deals - backing 26th February as the PS3 game's UK arrival.

HMV started the ball rolling, listing a Limited Edition that comes complete with fancy slipcase and vouchers to download a Heavy Rain PS3 Theme and Heavy Rain sountrack - "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head"?

ShopTo, Amazon and Play all also back the 26th February date which, under two months away, now seems undeniable.

Heavy Rain was passed for sale in the UK by the BBFC yesterday, gaining less-strict 15 rating for "strong language, violence and sex".

Our gamepage below has all coverage amassed since the ambitious PS3 exclusive was announced at E3 2006.

    Sounds like a classic Sony confirmation.

    That HMV version looks sweet. Not a bad price either. I am a sucker for OST with games.

    I'll take the cheapest option! The only OST I got was with Demon's Souls but that was because the Deluxe had that awesome guide with it.

    @Widge : They're both the same price.

    oh right, I'll have that... although usually nearer the time, someone like Shopto nips in on the cheap.

    Want it so bad! But I guess I want GT5, GOW3 and Battlefiled BC2 more.

    @Widge : Shopto is only about £2 cheaper for the standard edition, I think for what you get in the HMV exclusive special edition is worth that £2! Considering the DLC will probably be around £5 or more on it's own...

    In the US the DLC has been priced at $5

    Edit: Although the source for that is VG247 so treat it appropriately.

    No, seriously. Why do Sony have such a ridiculous problem with release dates? It's a month and a half away FFS. When do they plan on confirming it as hitting the shops 26/02/10? The day before no doubt.

    Its not long away and its so close you would think that telling people wouldnt be an issue. The big issue for most publishers releasing in the next 3 months though is that there are so many games coming out, they are being very careful about the release date, no one wants to release in the middle of another big game release, or two or three releases in the same week... I dont think this is the only game we will see having an issue announcing the date (not heard from many other games that are apparently ready to ship)

    There is probably some pesky little license problem or something like that making the date probably, but still tentative. It's better to say nothing, than having to push the date later.
