Sony unveils three new colours for PSP

Mystic Silver! Pearl White! Radiant Red!

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that the PSP-3000 will soon be available in three shiny new colours.

From February, you'll be able to pick up a PSP in Mystic Silver or Pearl White. The third colour, Radiant Red, will arrive in March.

The PSP-3000, lest we forget, features an enhanced LCD screen, a built-in mic and a TV-out socket. As always you can use it to listen to music, watch videos, chat online and play both the great games in the PSP's software catalogue.

Unveiling some good new games would be better. My PSP gathers dust most of the time.

    Which ones are they?

announcing more games would be more important.

The PSP doesn't need new colours...it needs more games.

[...]"and play both the great games in the PSP's software catalogue."

Either that is just a typo, or a fangirl jibe.

Unfortunately, we all know which is more likely.

    @ SeesThroughAll:

No, there really are only TWO great games in the PSP cat. I just, err, can't remember them right now...err!

    ;-)

On another note, I picked up this article with David Reeves in The Guardian (through vg247.com) and he says in it: "Hmm, I'm not sure I want to be in this business at all." This being Sony Corp's attitude if Sony had a worse Xmas 08.

Well, go ahead, Sony. Pack up your bags. It only means that YOU'RE the losers and that NO ONE will ever trust you again in either the games world or indeed in the consumer electronics world either.

If they think that any decisions they make in SCE do not impact the public's perception of Sony as a whole, they're sadly mistaken!

I've had and traded in 2 PSPs so far, but I always miss them. All I want is a matt one, I loved my first PSP (until I got bored with it), and still prefer it to the new ones because it was a better fit for my hands, and matt. If there's a store that still has new Phat ones, I'd probably get one again, but until then make all the clours you want, I'll pass.

Yes, well I suppose you would think that. If all you'd seen is one sentence from an interview taken completely out of context. Thankfully anyone with a cup full of brain cells would have read the extracts from the same interview on this very web site and would probably come to the conclusion that you're an idiotic troll.

That's David Reeves, "if we cut the price our bosses at Sony wouldn't have liked it" isn't it?

    He's totally Jerry Lundegaard!

"Well, we've never done this before. But seeing as it's special circumstances and all, he says I can knock a hundred dollars off that PS3."

Sony cant really control the outputs of third party publishers, and PSP unfortunately now comes in the bottom of the pecking order after the main current consoles and DS.

Still looking forward to PSP's Star Ocean Second Evolution as the blurbs to the right say its reasonably cheap!

"Sony cant really control the outputs of third party publishers"

Or firstparty developers. Wasn't there some kind of racing game they were going to release "soon" after the PSP launch? Turismo somethingorother?

So Sony are copying Nintendo without knowing exactly why they're copying Nintendo.

Here's a hint: You need teh casual games too.

There's fucking loads of great games on psp. EG you should be ashamed of your blatant trolling!

"and play both the great games in the PSP's software catalogue."

That one made me laugh :D And I own a PSP, mind you!
  • crickson #18 3 years ago

I think the psp still has a lot to recommend it as a portable media player, so I'd still be interested in a new model/colour selection.
  • Feanor #19 3 years ago

I don't mind them saying "both" so long as one of them isn't the criminally overrated Lumines.
  • Ryze #20 3 years ago

    Advert.

Shame it doesn't feature ergonomic design, a regularly updated game catalogue, an online service to speak of, or a right-analogue stick to control 3D games.

Ridiculous that it's taken so long for some of these colours to arrive.

I own a PSP but it gets used more for emaultors than it does PSP games.

    Give me 20 great games
