Sony sorting GOW Trilogy availability

Three-game bundle here on 30th April.

Sony's God of War Trilogy will be released on 30th April, and the publisher's told Eurogamer that retail partners for the three-game bundle are being worked out now.

Not all shops will sell the game, perhaps explaining why some retailers have scrapped pre-orders suddenly.

The God of War Trilogy contains all three games released so far: Blu-ray remasters of God of War I & II and PS3 game God of War III.

All three are brilliant, and all three earned 9/10 on Eurogamer.

Our God of War I, II and III reviews are lurking elsewhere.

    Good-o. I haven't played any of them and this seems the best way to begin a long and bloody relationship.

    For a minute I thought that Gear of War was coming to the PS3... this is probably better news tho!

    Nice to see that the GOW Collection is finally getting its European outing. Sony seriously needs to take a look at its setup and start making decisions globally rather than cutting Europe out all the time.

    I rented GOWIII, but couldn't finish it.
    Kratos is probably the worst character in a video game ever, he is just such a cunt. I actually wanted him to fail because all he does is kill everyone (even innocent guards) for no real reason.
    It's like playing Mass Effect with no choice apart from Renagade or Bioshock where you have to kill every little sister.

    This game should have come with morality choices, glad I rented it though £40 for an 8 hour game? Your having a laugh.

    PS: I first though Gears was coming to PS3.

    Morality choices? Are you for real?

    Hint: It's called God of War, you tool! I don't think the God of War could give a fuck about a few innocent guards or civilians...

    ah fuck. I only got GOW3 yesterday (at the same time as I caved and got a PS3)

    Love it!

    @Alivada "I actually wanted him to fail because all he does is kill everyone (even innocent guards) for no real reason."

    The whole story of GOWIII is to do with Kratos' all consuming rage, which noone is safe from. You kinda missed that point obviously. And you rant at the 8 hour playthrough yet never actually finished it... twatty remark really.

    Pretty sure your morality choice is there, just not tied to a contrived and intrusive one way or the other system. You control Kratos ergo you choose whether or not to kill the unarmed characters...

    Wont happen unless Microsoft (owner of the franchise) buys Sony.

    "This game should have come with morality choices"

    Erm, no. Morality choices are one of the worst game mechanics ever. When used properly they're excellent story telling tools, but more often than not they're little more than a switch that locks and unlocks game content, essentially forcing you to replay in order to see the other side of the coin.

    "Wont happen unless Microsoft (owner of the franchise) buys Sony."

    Actually Epic owns the franchise and IP, MS is merely the publisher, which can be changed. It'll likely cost Epic (or their new publisher) an obscene amount of money to take it to another platform but it can be done.

    @Murton

    True. Still incredibly unlikely.
  • Doctor_What #18 2 years ago

    I imported it a few weeks ago. Bloody brilliant fun. The first one still stands up to modern games easily.

    Oh definitely. The fees involved in taking those already published games elsewhere would be ridiculous, future games though, who knows?
  • Collymilad #20 2 years ago

    Is there a collection with just the first 2? Already have 3.
  • Murton #21 2 years ago

    "Is there a collection with just the first 2? Already have 3."

    Well spotted. This is about the trilogy release rather the "collection" which is the first two games remastered, which is yet to be released in Europe to my knowledge. There you go EG, a chance for some investigative journalism, get hold of SCEE and find out what's going on.
  • hazelam #22 2 years ago

    after the way scee frakked up the collection's release in europe i've decided i'm going to wait until these games are preowned for a fraction of the price they are new.
  • Kazzahdrane #23 2 years ago

    @Collymilad:

    The "God of War Collection", comprising the first two games on a Blu-Ray disc, is out in Europe the same day as the trilogy :)
  • Collymilad #24 2 years ago

    @Murton, Kazzahdrane

    Cheers, thanks for the info :)
  • Murton #25 2 years ago

    @ Biker Bob: would that be the super duper Pandora's Box edition that was sold in limited numbers by a single retailer? I believe Collymilad was asking about a solus release of the GOW Collection, which hasn't come out in Europe yet.

    Nice one Kazzahdrane for finding that info, always a shame when readers have to fill in the holes left in the articles by EG.
