Sony denies confirming 3D for GT5
Qore made "erroneous inference".
Sony's said footage from Qore of PS3 games running in 3D was filmed for "demonstration purposes" and was not confirmation of feature support.
Official US web magazine Qore showed a video reel of various first-party games displayed in 3D. These included Killzone 2 and Gran Turismo 5 as well as LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD and WipEout HD Fury.
"That last feature included interviews, footage from CES 2010, and a brief montage of SCEA titles intended as examples of what 3D gaming might encompass. It is hard to do justice to just how amazing 3D gaming looks in a 2D presentation—even in an HD product such as Qore," a Sony rep told IGN.
"Unfortunately, our feature did not make it clear that the 2D game footage was included for demonstration purposes only. We apologise for the erroneous inference that 3D versions of LBP, Wipeout HD, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5 or Super Stardust HD are in production."
Sony's 3D firmware update for PS3 is rumoured to be arriving in June.

It can't be that difficult to support TrioViz in addition to Sony's own hardware based method but it won't be making them much money now would it so I have my doubts.
Will Microsoft support some type of 3D method for the Xbox?
It would be great if you could select from a choice of 3D methods in the console settings but then I've never seen pigs at anything above ground level.

Nvidia's 3D vision does to, and can output in shutter glass 3d modde or in Discover mode, which is the older coloured glasses method.
The problem with 3D on consoles is that a game has to be designed to show it. To retrofit it to a game without developer interfereance you need to have graphical options, something thats relitively rare on consoles, but commonon PC's. THe reason behind this is that it means you can turn off the effects that dont work in 3D (commonly as they are only 2D effects applied to the 2D output of a 3D engine).
However Sony and Microsoft are likely to offer insentives to people to impliment 3D into their games.

Wouldnt they have to render the scene twice to get 3d?
That's gotta hurt frame rates...

2) If this was for demonstration purposes only, then what were you trying to demonstrate with these mockups? Things that won't be in 3D?
