Sony bigwigs bigup PS3 for 2009 News
PSP PlayStation 3 News by Ellie Gibson
Sony's top executives have been speaking to PlayStation.com about what they're looking forward to in 2009.
"The most important thing for us as a company in the very short term is for us to start making money," said SCEE boss David Reeves, who gets the big bucks for that kind of sharp economic thinking.
"This is a pledge that was made last March and is something that we are still very much on target to achieve. Once we have achieved this, I think it will be a very exciting time for PlayStation. Once we have alleviated that specific pressure, we can move forward at a rate of knots."
According to Reeves 2009 will be "a very exciting year for PS3", what with the likes of Heavy Rain and Killzone 2 coming out. Then there's the music and video download service arriving at the end of the year, plus "some great games coming out" for PSP. In short, "2009 will be a prime example of PlayStation at its very best."
Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida agrees, unsurprisingly. He reckons this will be "the year of big exclusive PS3 titles", citing EyePet and MAG as examples. And Heavy Rain and Killzone 2. There are "some more big titles that we have not even announced yet", too.
"On PSP, we have new titles and innovations that will connect and expand the PlayStation experiences," added Yoshida.
The artist formerly known as Sony Worldwide Studios boss, Phil Harrison, also chipped in. He's most looking forward to "large scale MMOs coming to PlayStation 3", complete with "innovative business and service models". But what about Heavy Rain and Killzone 2, Phil?
