Sonic Adventure on dreamcast was cool! I must admit though I'm with you on "meh", still it LOOKS promising........

Can't say that I'm exited at the prospect of a new Sonic game...

But I have to admit that looks amazingly beautiful. The lighting especially shows extremely good craftsmanship IMO, with lots of vivid touches like the blue shadows on the Mediterranean buildings. I don't know how to link to the pictures, but I caught myself staring at the one with the two clay huts near the end for quite some time.
Don't know if those are real shots or not, but I really like the style. Says nothing about the game, of course.

As what viper_h added S&K on the MegaDrive was pretty good, Sonic Adventure on the DC wasn't too bad i guess. I suppose as the Wii and Xbox 360 can be bought for under £200 then it is a good time to release a Sonic game on the market. Sega must have made a mint on Sonic/Mario at the Olympics; so this game will do well despite being another below average Sonic title...

Even though Sonic Adventure was a good game, it still marked the downfall for the series. Recent sonic games (including the 2D ones) have been overly focused on speed IMO. The originals were fast, but you still had to find and learn the route in order to get those fast times, were as recently they seem to be designing the levels so you only have to hold the D-pad down in one direction (with the odd jump here and there) in order to finish.

Another one to the group thinking it looks utterly gorgeous. I'm glad to see a little effort in the visuals seeing as that hasn't really been the case since Adventure 2, and we're now in the next-gen and there's more power so the visuals do need to be pretty "Wow!" in a game like this.

But yes, I also worry about the gameplay because that's really suffered in recent years, I mean they went from Heroes (which was awful) to the Sonic the Hedgehog mess that quite frankly was borderline unplayable. I'd like to think that with effort on the visuals, and the interesting camera angles, that they may have gone back to tighten up the old Adventure mechanics and to build on those a little - but the proof of the pudding will be in the eating, and until then I doubt anyone will be waiting for this one to be unleashed...

Aaaarrggh! Why are they still making them, it beggars belief. I can only conclude there are many stupid people out there buying them.

Inquisitor, you're exactly right.

I remember playing one of the DS Sonics and thinking "Where's the gameplay?". You do keep holding right, occasionally pushing the boost button or hammering R for some - useless - extra points. When you hit the occasional enemy or a spike, well, no problem, just pick up your rings. However, when you get catapulted into an abyss that appeared within two frames (or even thanks to one of the many blind jumps), it's a lot more infuriating.
Bosses were really fun, though.

@The_Inquisitor: Sonic Adventure the downfall?? If remember correctly, the most SEGA could give us in 3D back in the day was Sonic R or Sonic 3D Blast. Sonic Adventure was a breath of fresh air, haha.

They're x360 screens, the Wii ones look much, much shittier. Which is retarded, because Mario Galaxy looks at least as good as this. Fuck you, developers. Fuck you.
