Sonic showing off his Scottish roots with the ginger chest hair.
  • Lex_Luthor #3 6 years ago

Er... doesn't really look much better than the Dreamcast Sonic games, does it?
  • GuiltySpark #4 6 years ago

I should sooooo kick your ass for saying that.

Not meaning to jump on the whole "Next gen=better gfx" bandwagon, but...we saw all this 8 years ago on the Dreamcast...near enough pixel for pixel.

"Not meaning to jump on the whole "Next gen=better gfx" bandwagon,"

Yeah, that 'I tripped and fell on it' excuse is only going to wash so many times, you know. ;)

Looks alright to me, I'm quite happy for it not to have next-gen features like models that look like sweaty plastic mannequins, super shiney everything with that lovely bleached out/washed out look you get with the overuse of bloom and suchlike.
So it may have some jaggies, who cares you'll probably be doing 200mph through the levels anyway. Could be good, hope so.

can hardly wait! Everything falls right into the pieces: new console, new very interesting job, new company car *grins*. Coming in November at a company near you. hehehe :).
  • Blerk #9 6 years ago

    New generation, same old Sonic.
  • bionutz #10 6 years ago

not the same. control is different, immersion is much higher. and this will be addressed also to people who have never played it before (Nintendo philosophy).

Only if the experience of using the Wii-mote as a handlebar style steering control is suitably intuitive. Its arguable that a gamepad analogue stick, which provides at least some physical resistance when pushed in any direction, might provide more accesible experience than attempting to steer with a bar which is connected to nothing.

IMHO Sonic is supposed to look like sonic. On the "other" next gen sonic, the graphics are so polished that he stops looking like sonic and starts to look more human.

He's a cartoon character at the end of the day, he's not SUPPOSED to look realistic.

IMHO making him uber spanky shiny ultra realistic he stops being sonic.

So ner. Even if you had a playstation 5, he SHOULDNT (imo) look any different from the dreamcast version, or he stops being sonic.. I dont want a ultra realistic fur shaded hedgehog.. i want sonic!

But me thinks this is less people commenting on the screenshots, and more people desperately trying to jump into a wii thread to slag off the wii's graphics (Which seems to be happening a lot at the moment, people seem to be ignoring other games and jumping striahgt onto the wii screenshots.. strange.. almost as if they're scared its going to be successful)

The characters in Finding Nemo are of a very polished high quality and yet still look like caricatures of the animals they represent. I see no reason why higher quality effects and increased poly count should detract from Sonic's cartoon-style origins.

to be honest couldnt give a crap about whether the graphics look good as long as the game plays ok im just gonna take some convincing about the whole shaking remote as motion sensor stuff is something i have doubts about!!

perhaps if there is an option for switching it off if it does prove to be frustrating and hard to use this may help??
  • cyacomini #16 6 years ago

To be perfectly honest, the only 3D sonic game I ever took a fancy to was Sonic 3D on the Sega Mega (by Travellers Tales).

I'd be really (really really) interested to see what they could do with next-gen hardware, but in 2D !! Image the beauty of a hand drawn Sonic running through gorgeous 2D playing field - i'd buy it !!

oh, and how about Sonic CD on Live! please ?

  • Knot #17 6 years ago

People should see it in motion. I think gametrailers has some footage of this gameplay scene. The sense of speed is brilliant. This game might put Sonic back on top.

i think its initially gonna be hard to pick up the wiimote for gamers who have been using a d-pad for over a decade.. i remember i hated the analog on the playstation when it first came out (still do). It wasnt until theN64 and after that, the Xbox that i learned how analog should feel. I'd say after a while the wiimote is gonna feel really natural

sooo....am I the only one who thinks you dont need a Wii to play this game? The controls could be ported 1:1 to the PS3.

    Intentional I'd guess.

Regarding the graphics, the Wii's GPU is identical the GC, albiet 50% faster, so don't expect next-gen graphics from the little fella.
  • BBIAJ #21 6 years ago

Man there's some nasty jaggies in there, mein eyes!
  • cyber_nicco #22 6 years ago

the game looks great, but the controller stuff looks prety "iffy" to me.
  • Agent_Orange #23 6 years ago

The graphics are very world of warcraft-ish.
  • Toonster #24 5 years ago

Still looks very nice. I eagerly await its release this month (I think it's out on the 20th in the US this month)
  • kasabian72 #25 5 years ago

forget this crappy looking Wii version and however it plays. get the REAL next-gen/hi-def version on 360. it's all about the graphics folks.

Unlike the 360/PS3 version, the "crappy" Wii version actually looks FUN.
