Bit pointless if you cannot get the latest expansions on Steam. It's like missing the last level.

I very nearly bought the pack. Never seen or played the Everquest games so thought I better check out some reviews first or something

You dont want to go anywhere near everquest. The original is as dated as you can get, and for its name, there are actually hardly any quests. Ever grind or ever camp would be a more apt name. The gameply consists of finding an area where there are a fair amount of beatable mobs for your group. You sit there all night killing the mobs and waiting for the otherse to respawn. You do this all night, and then arrange to go back the next day.
Raiding was something that was pretty spectacular with up to 72 players at once. But this becomes very unwieldy. You wait half an hour for everyone to get their shit together and then spend an hour or so killing trash mobs. if someone messes up you have to come back next week, if not well done the lucky 3 or 4 people who get a nice item.

Everquest 2 got of to such a fantastic start but I left for the vastly superiour in every way Warcraft. Even warcraft gets boring, I stopped playing a while back but kept the sub going till I got Lichking. Played that once and realised I had had my fill of rat punching so cancelled (A nice £50 for f all to blizzard).

Hmm a fairly harsh assessment of EQ from above. Of course it is dated but the game is 2 months away from its 10 year birthday.

Frankly the hours spent as a group is what makes the game, it is much more fun than running around a MMO that rewards endless solo play. Doubt I'll ever play again though as the time consumption is just too high.
