SOE bringing PopCap games to PSN News

PlayStation 3 News by Tom Bramwell

30 January, 2009

Sony Online Entertainment has announced a deal to bring five PopCap games to PlayStation Network, starting with Bejeweled 2.

The classic match-3 puzzler came out in the US yesterday, where it costs USD 9.99, and SOE said that a European release would follow.

The other games set for PS3 treatment are Zuma, Heavy Weapon, Feeding Frenzy and Peggle, and these should make their way over here too.

Four of the five are already out on Microsoft's comparable Xbox Live Arcade service, of course, but their presence on PSN won't hurt the console's casual credentials.

As a measure of how they will turn out, the Bejeweled 2 release has four game modes, Trophy support, PSP Remote Play compatibility and 1080p visuals, which you can admire in our Bejeweled 2 PSN screenshot gallery

I could never be bothered with the MS points system (let's face it, with the economy going for a dive, surely MS points should be varying with the exchange rate?), but with the prices are turning up in real money on PSN they might just get a sale or two out of me. I hear very good things about Peggle.

@ doctor what

Ms points are a cheaper way of buying things then using real money on PSN if you have the option to buy the same thing on both. At least with MS points you can buy them cheaper online then rrp, use things like quidco & discount codes to get cheap cards. With PSN your have no option of getting things cheaper at all.

"MS points should be varying with the exchange rate?"~
MS point varies even without change rate. If you look for it you can find it cheap.

And they'll all be out in US and Japan tomorrow, while UK/Euroland will see them sometime in 2049.

@ mem:

There was an article in EG about SF FX Turbo HD Remix (etc) for PSN the other day. It said Capcom still want it to come out in UK/Euroland but Sony were sending it back because of continuing 'quality' issues or something like that, I think.

I wouldn't hold my breath, if I were you, and those who did are now long dead!
