Smash Bros. to have VC demos

Called Masterpieces. Time limited.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl will let you play trial versions of Virtual Console games.

The likes of Super Metroid and Star Fox 64 will be offered in the Masterpieces mode, according to the official SSMB site.

Each of the samplers will be time limited, so you can scream like Jack Bauer on a deadline as it slowly ticks away. You can always nip off to the Wii Shop and buy the full version afterwards.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl has 29 confirmed fighters so far, from Solid Snake to Princess Peach.

Pop over to the Smash Bros. DOJO for a full line-up.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl was recently delayed in the US by a month to 9th March. Still no word on a Euro date.

Where did they get 29 fighters from? I count only 25, am I missing something?

possibly counting sheik/zelda, zero suit samus/samus and the poke trainer as separate characters?

OK, OK, so I'll be the first to admit that VC demos should have been a standard function on the actual VC since day one, but as far as Smash Bros goes, I can't see how anyone but the most dedicated whinger could argue that this is anything but a pleasantly surprising bonus feature that adds massively to the "virtual Nintendo museum" appeal of the game. Whether or not you feel that the central Wii development team should have offered VC demos, the fact remains that Sakurai and his Smash Bros. team certainly weren't obliged to; as such, this is a very generous little freebie. This sheer full-featuredness of this game continues to astound me...

Also, EG - "SSMB"? What's that supposed to stand for?

It stands for Super Smash Mothers Brawl! A new title to help widen the appeal...

    +1

Hopefully, this doesn't mean that Nintendo will not offer a proper demo scheme for VC titles in the future :)

It's like those people who were complaining that the exchange rate from stars to Wii Points wasn't very good. It's FREE ffs!

Oh, and as for the confusion over characters - I'm not sure if EG were referring to it, given thaat they haven't mentioned it in the news at all, but the 5-and-a-half minute Japanese trailer/tutorial video released by Nintendo accidentally confirmed three more characters for Brawl: the veterans Jigglypuff and Ness, and a newcomer, the Pokemon Lucario.

Nintendo edited the video later, but if you skip to about 4:20 on the original video, there's a little clip of the new sticker album mode, and you'll notice that as the cursor passes over each sticker, tiny icons appear at the bottom to show which characters are compatible with them in the Adventure mode; look closely, and you'll see icons for Lucario and Jigglypuff appear alongside Pikachu and Pokemon Trainer when the cursor highlights Groudon, whilst selecting the EarthBound character shows an icon for Ness as well as Lucas.

I'm not usually one to buy into the whole "OMG EXCLUSIV LEAKED SAMSH BROS. ROSTER" hoopla that accompanies the release of a new Smash, but this one has been widely reported on, and seems pretty legit...

No, they're offering them as an unlockable in smash bros, as a way to show the history of each character in the game.

it's FREE unlockable content, as a reason to keep playing.

And yet again, retarded gamers with no lives choose to moan.
