Smash Bros. Brawl spoilers emerge
Early Japanese retail copies to blame.
Early copies of Super Smash Bros. Brawl going on sale in Japan have resulted in floods of spoilers making their way onto the Internet.
They revolve around previously unmentioned characters, bosses and stages. Best look away now if you want all this to be a surprise when the game comes out here in Q2 2008.
The new characters cropping up in footage are Luigi, Lucario, Cartoon Link, Captain Falcon, Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B., Ness, Marth, Falco, Ganondorf and Jigglypuff. It is unclear how you will gain access to these.
Fresh boss sightings include Ridley, Master Hand, something called Tabuu and some big robots.
Stages we didn't previously know about are Classic Mario Bros., Sonic Green Hill Zone, F-Zero Port Town, Luigi Mansion and Electroplankton.
Other snaps of note show an enormous Diddy Kong and Zelda, both of whom look a trifle annoyed, and a quick picture of everyone together probably singing songs and holding hands.
Pop over to US blog Joystiq for the relevant pictures and a video with lots of game-spoiling footage.
Or you can get excited by the opening cinematic we hoisted up on Eurogamer TV recently.
If you are trying to import Smash Bros. Brawl, good luck - Japanese retailers are having trouble meeting local demand as it is.

Here's the complete roster, for those who want to know:
12 SSB64 Veterans: Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus/Zero Suit Samus, Kirby, Yoshi, Fox McCloud, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Luigi, Captain Falcon, Ness
8 SSBM Veterans: Zelda/Sheik, Bowser, Princess Peach, Ice Climbers, Marth, Mr Game & Watch, Falco Lombardi, Ganondorf
15 SSBB Newcomers: Wario, Diddy Kong, Pit, Meta Knight, Pokemon Trainer, Ike, Solid Snake, King Dedede, Wolf O'Donnell, Lucario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Toon Link, R.O.B., Captain Olimar, Lucas
35 characters total, compared to 25 in Melee and 12 in 64. The five characters from Melee who didn't make the cut are Mewtwo, Dr. Mario, Pichu, Roy and Young Link (unless, as suspected, Toon Link is just Young Link re-skinned).
I'm happy with the roster, with one caveat: Mewtwo should have had Wolf's spot. How can you scrap a unique character and then include THREE different versions of Fox?! >

For example, I loved Ganondorf but I would rather have him firing multiple energy balls and transforming into Ganon than have the same moves as Captain Falcon. Same with Falco and now Star Wolf, he better be different. I bet Lucas and Ness are the same too.
Also, wasn't the original rumour supposed to be that there are 3 special guest stars? Snake and Sonic are great but I was hoping for Pacman or Mega Man to make an appearance.
And finally.....I hate Jigglypuff and never understood the fascination with "it".
That's all I have to say about that.

Rest.
That is all.
