Skate series heads to Wii, DS

Specialised, with Balance Board support.

EA will be moving its acclaimed Skate series to Wii and DS.

Dubbed Skate It, the games will focus on the quirky controls of the two Nintendo platforms, as well as support the freshly released Wii Balance Board.

Little other information has been released; a full announcement is expected this week following an EA Sports event in Vancouver last week.

Skate was an inaugural attempt by EA to battle the long-standing Tony Hawk series. It did even better than that, and went on to earn considerable critical acclaim for its analogue stick-based trickery.

Head over to our Skate review for a little bit of excitement.

Translation - "IGN have a full interview with details, screenshots and teaser videos for both formats, but we don't want you to go there!"

Hmmm...is this just Skate for DS & Wii? Or does this concern future iterations, i.e: Skate 2 which is in the works?
Not very clear article with regards to the future of the franchise...really hoping Skate is not now going to be a Wii/DS exclusive that would really really REALLY suck.

@ syphaa not much chance of skate being wii/ds exclusive - skate 2 will be out on ps3 and 360 by end of the year i reckon
  • syphaa #6 4 years ago

    Lets hope not.
Skate has a bright future on the next gen consoles [360&PS3]. [Wii is more of a faddy next gen]
Been playing Skate again recently, now they have sorted the online lag issues, runs like butter. Its a beaut!

    OMG LOL

Now seriously, very excited. This is good news.

Edit: We can all bet our shins that Skate 2 is in the works, with female skaters included in the avatar creator plus presumably even more famous skaters and crazier city environments. I'm grinning now.
