Skate 2 gets Fantasy Plaza park News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

19 February, 2009

EA will expand Skate 2 today with Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Plaza.

This costs 400 Microsoft Points (GBP 3.40 / EUR 4.80) from Xbox Live, and USD 4.99 from the PlayStation Store. We're not sure whether this will be available for European PS3 owners as the store hasn't been updated yet.

There are no elves, dwarves or naked ladies in this fantasy land, but a skateboarding haven created by Dyrdek (and shoe company DC), who happens to be a professional skateboarder. And an entrepreneur. And the star of his own reality TV show.

The Fantasy Plaza forms the centrepiece of Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory show for MTV, and has an appropriate amount of ledges, gaps and rails to do pointy-nosed up-turned roundabouts on.

Skate 2 launched on Xbox 360 and PS3 quite recently, and turned up sporting the acclaimed balletic strategy that made the series an instant hit. Head over to our Skate 2 review to find out more.

Oh balls, I may have to use the points I've been saving for the Fallout 3 DLC. =/

Is it a good park though?

Do not buy this!!!!
If EA want to turn back into money grabbing whores, in this time of economic crisis, then they need to be taught a familiar lesson. Never pay for their cheat codes, or their DLC that was cut from the original game to be sold as DLC.

Eh?

Well, if you don't wish to buy the content then that's up to you mate but I'll be buying it simply because Skate 2 is one of my favourite games of recent times. As long as it doesn't cost more than £5-10, I'll be happy.

Does it have new challenges also? I've almost done everything in single player.

One of my favourites games too but this is clearly a very cynical ploy, just like the filmer pack was.
Very disappointed that they have done this tbh.

It's £3.19 on the PlayStation store, which is MUCH cheaper than I expected.

The filmer pack appears to be a rip-off mikew but this download providess actual areas you can play around in and that is what I expected in terms of DLC for the game in the first place.

One section seems an almost rip off of the LA River from Thrasher Skate and Destroy, awesome.

I bought the filmer pack because personally it makes a huge difference to me but I could see it was a cynical ploy and this is just as much of a ploy. There is no way in hell that a mere month after the og release date they have created, tested and decided on the final design for a new area for the game. I'm just annoyed that they have done it not once but twice with content that should have been included in the game.
