Activision has delayed the release of Singularity, the time-bending shooter from Raven Software, until next year.
It's not because the game's not ready, oh no - it's because everyone's jumping up and down about another forthcoming title, according to Activision.
"The level of excitement for Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven's upcoming sci-fi first person action title, Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010," a spokesperson told GameSpot.
"We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a 'must-have' title and clears the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season."
Singularity is in development for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It sees you taking on the role of a pilot who crashes on a mysterious island, and finds himself caught up in some sort of time travel nonsense. 4 8 15 16 23 42. For the full lowdown, read our recent preview.

Good. No offence to Singularity, but one less game getting swallowed up by the holiday season is a good thing. It wouldn't have done well at that time anyway, now it might.

WOW, im just gonna pinch myself a second, is this a publisher realising you don't have to release in the holiday period, and that it is even a benefit not to for a new IP?!?!?!?!
If only EA had figured this out last year for poor old Mirrors Edge and Dead Space!!!!

It does seem to make sense but why not just release it now while theres eff all to buy on the 360 (certainly not many shooters)?
