SimBin announces PC-only Race On
Available as standalone and expansion.
Swedish racing sim specialists SimBin have announced a new PC driving title called Race On.
The main draw is content from last year's WTCC competition, which in the tradition of PR hyperbole was the "best and most competitive championship ever." There'll also be Detroit Muscle cars, apparently "suited for those who like to lay down lots of rubber power sliding out of corners on the rev limiter. Enough torque to drag the moon off orbit, full opposite lock and a big grin on your face".
We're uncertain how much of the incomprehensibility of that statement is due to the writer's first language being Swedish, and how much is due to us not knowing how to drive.
Formula Masters cars are also chucked in to the mix, adding extreme cornering and simulated G-forces. There are also new American tracks, updated versions of old tracks, and the entire retail version of STCC (Swedish Touring Car Championship).
The game will be available either as an expansion for existing RACE 07 owners, or as a standalone game including all of the RACE 07 content. Scheduled for release in quarter two of this year.

Oh, and if you don't know what power sliding, torque or opposite lock is, then I would skip this game altogether, just you like you presumably skipped every other non-GameBoy racing game

I'm currently enjoying Race 07 - GTR Evolution immensely, albeit with a real shit Logitech wheel.
But I do know what they mean with the "grin on the face".

As it is, the game is bland and woefully presented, well below the standards expected of a console racer these days IMO, so it's not surprising that it hasn't been that particularly well-received except by hardcore simulation fans. It really didn't add anything new to the genre that Forza 2 hadn't already done two years ago if you ask me and that game was more polished, had a much more rewarding game structure and had lots more content.

Hilarious. The WTCC is terrible. Im not sure how you make touring car racing so boring, but the FIA certainly managed with WTCC. It worse than F1 for tedious racing.
Still, the games are pretty good and im interested in this.
+1
The point of a racing simulations is that it simulates driving and in the case of Simbin games, a particular series.
Therefore the only games modes you expect are quick/single race, championships and time trials/practice.
There is no structure that the likes of Forza has. And most sim races don't want it either.
Forza can't compete with the best sims on the PC anyway.
