Sierra closing 21 game servers
Mostly old, but fondly remembered.
Sierra/Vivendi plans to close 21 game servers on 1st November.
Fortunately, these all belong to old titles not yet old enough to be considered retro-cool like stupid plastic sunglasses.
The Sierra site gave no reason for the closures; it could be something to do with the Activision Blizzard merger, or just be because these games are knocking on a bit now.
There's some fond memories there, though.

Shame about Tribes 2, but there are a few servers out there run by die-hard fans.

"Tribes 2 is mainly a multiplayer game right?"
Pretty much only multiplayer, one of the best games ever IMO. Massive games, vehicles, customisable armour sets. Fantastic.

What? That's only a couple of years old!
And Homeworld - not retro cool?! HA!

I was amazed to still find people playing Doom and Command % Conquer when I looked a few weeks ago.
It does suck though that they are happy to sell these games in budget ranges yet no longer support them online.
