SFIV PC could be here this summer

Capcom remains non-committal.

The release of Street Fighter IV on PC is still only a 'maybe' for summer, according to Capcom's Vice President of business development, Christian Svensson.

The executive wasn't about to be goaded into putting a date in black and white, simply stating, "Let's say summer."

The masterful take on the 2D fighting genre has already shifted in excess of 2 million copies worldwide and confirmation that a PC version is on the way will be welcome news indeed for the series' non-consoling fans. Joystiq is also reporting that a Madcatz stick bundle could be in the offing.

In the meantime, why not check out our Street Fighter IV review?

Would much rather play this on a games console than on a PC. It just seems wrong.

Seeing as the original arcade machine ran on standard PC hardware, surely there isn't much work involved in getting the PC version on the shelves? I guess summer is just around the corner now anyway...

when this gets pirated to hell and back they will only have themselves to blame, what a slap in the face to pc owners. ii'd have bought it on release day as well as the ps3 version if it was released at the same time, but now i will wait for it to be really cheap in some deal before i think about it.

santino; the fact is, PC games DO get pirated. Therefore it makes sense to have the console versions come out first; get most of the sales, then when they die off release a PC version, gain a bit more money but in the knowledge that it won't have effected the console sales.

Not really. I don't see how this could give anyone an excuse to pirate it. Of course, it will be used as an excuse.

Are you sure that doesn't work on a PS3?

Seeing as the original arcade machine ran on standard PC hardware, surely there isn't much work involved in getting the PC version on the shelves?

The game works great on a PC that is specc'd to the original hardware, I am sure, but now they gotta make sure it works on the many different hardware configurations that are in people's home.

In any case, I doubt they are too rushed to get this out, the PS3/360 versions are selling like gangbusters, and fighting games are a nonstarter on PC (aside from roms/GGPO/etc., which publishers don't make any money on obv), I can't imagine there is a ton of interest in this port.

TheMoonRat has the right idea I think.
