SFII Turbo on PAL VC

Along with Metroid NES.

Street Fighter II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting heads up this week's European Virtual Console update, joining the ranks of SNES titles by demanding 800 Wii points for the pleasure of its company. Its little brother, regular SFII, is already available.

Also on the VC this week is the original NES version of Metroid, at 500 Wii points. It's the first of Samus' excellent adventures to appear on Nintendo's downloadable service. Look out for the latest of our Virtual Console Roundups to see how it's aged.

And, finally, there's Silent Debuggers for TurboGrafx-16 at 600 Wii points. Not one I'm familiar with, if I'm honest, but Wikipedia declares that it's another Data East title and a first-person shooter, no less, in which players explore a cargo station in search of treasure. The overall goal is to "debug" a computer to turn off the self-destruct sequence that otherwise dooms you.

For this week's US Virtual Console update, make sho-ryu-ken you look through the blue words.

One bonus about starting with the original Metroid as your first series title is that, should you enjoy it:

    a) things can only get much better, and

    b) things can only get much easier, as the original was/is bloody hard!

"Metroid you say? Never played a Metroid game. This could be my firts purchase in quite some time. "

Wheres "Super Metroid"? - best game in existence IMO!

I just bought Prime 1 yesterday (didn't have it cause I bought a Cube for Echoes after destroying my brothers Cube with the original) after seeing the Metroid Corruption trailer. The game is still awesome, the trailer almost made me run out and buy a Wii.

So if you've never played a Metroid before start with Super Metroid. Play the GBA verions and play both Primes afterwards. All of these games are incredible.

    @ CrispyXUK

    Surely you mean "Down, R, Up, L, Y, B (*X, A)"?
    * US version

Or were you talking about metroid? Or something else? Shit I don't know! !!£$!

If you want to play the first Metroid, try the GBA remake instead, Metroid Zero Mission. It's a fantastic update. Then do Super Metroid (I agree with zuluhero, best game ever!).

I'd be wary of the original Metroid, it's pretty hardcore/ugly nowadays. For retro games, I prefer not delving further back than the SNES/MD generation, in fear of crushing happy memories.

Shit, Gorgot the GBA version was a remake. Play that first indeed.

this'll be the same Metroid game that is a free unlockable bonus in Metroid Prime on the GC then?

    thanks ninty!

"Free" applies to things that actually cost 0. If the "free" item is part of something you paid for it is really just "included".

... which would be why if you try and take the 50% free from stuff in supermarkets, they dont seem to like it much.
