Croteam's bonkers blaster for a tenner.

Serious Sam HD will be released on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday and cost 1200 Microsoft Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 14.40).

This Xbox 360 version is arguably Croteam's real motivation behind an HD revamp, as the PC version - released already - fell on a crowd that had played Serious Sam before. And as developer Croteam chose to change little, that same crowd had less to be excited about.

On Xbox 360, however, Serious Sam's hectic shooting and four-player co-op have never been seen.

I never got to play it on the pc but I did play it on the original xbox. I know this probably wasn't the best or ports but the gameplay was very very basic for a 3rd person shooter. Apart from the graphics the gamplay was very similar to the Doom games, again classics but things have moved on since and �10 for this is just asking too much.

err sorry EG but didn't I play this on Xbox? Yes you snook in `360` but a little misleading I think.

Great game - no manual to read, no combos to learn, no story to get board of - point, shoot, be happy. Good old days.

Serious Sam is a true classic that every shooter fan needs to play. I remember playing it during a weekend of retro gaming goodness complete with LAN and many, many beers.

I think it's safe to say that the lack of enthusiasm for the PC version stems more from the fact that the game can be picked up for much less than a tenner from a variety of sources. On 360 however where it has never been released before, tenner doesn't look bad all. Shame there's no PS3 release as I'd love to play this online with friends that missed out on the PC version back in the day.

Serious Sam on Steam was only �6.11 over the weekend as part of one of Steam's weekend deals. It's now back to �17.99.

I bought it for the PC when it came out, it's a shame that there are no servers and the 3 or 4 that are available are all laggy as hell, have unlimited ammo, friendly fire off and 10 people running around with the cannon. No fun at all.

The game play was very basic in Serious Sam, but that's what made it so much fun. In a genre that was gradually becoming all about realism and enemy Ai, it was nice to have a game that presented a big middle finger to all that and was just incredibly fun to play.

Look forward to playing this in co-op!

Loved the previous two games on the original XBox,but can't justify �10 for what is a better looking version without team deathmatch.That's a dealbreaker.
