Sensible Soccer XBLA dated News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

27 November, 2007

Sources close to Codemasters have revealed that Sensible World of Soccer will be available on 19th December, just in time for Christmas.

Word slipped on the publisher forums where community manager "Rubbergenius" leaked the date.

Neither Codemasters Online Gaming or Microsoft have been available to comment - the publisher told us last week that an announcement was expected soon - but we understand the date is accurate.

Sensible World of Soccer is based on the 96/97 version of the classic football series. Everything has been faithfully recreated here from the humorous teams to the management options and team editing.

Pop over to our first impressions of Sensible World of Soccer to see why we are so excited.

This is great news. Would like to see some more Amiga classics updated. Superfrog, Chaos Engine & Hunter to name but a few.

So... not actually dated, since there isn't any official word as to when it's out?

Hunter - ha de ha. The original sandbox game, I remember this as being fucking legend. Fairly sure that exciting as it was, it won't have stood the test of time - 3D sandboxes have come a long way. Would be good to chase one of those annoying rabbits and spaff my helicopter into the sea again though. I vote Cannon Fodder, or maybe a silkworm update.

With them pissing about so much with the release date, this will get totally flamed if it's anything other than excellent.

Aaaah Hunter, now that was a game and a half. The hovercraft was vehicle of choice for me. God I'm old.

Anyway bring on Sensi with its crazy aftertouch. I remember seeing a 9-pin joystick port mod for the old xbox controller so you could plug in a Competition Pro/Konix Speedking/'insert weapon of choice here' straight into the pad. Wonder if it works on the 360 pad.

Excellent taste, couldn't have said it better myself. :) Silkworm with Live co-op?(and not just the jeep, as fun as that was, they could have 2 choppers easily).

If we're talking remakes, let's go a step farther.

How about an redone (a la Prince of Persia Classic) version of Flashback: Quest for Identity on XBLA?

I have probably lost more hours to this game than any other (and considering I got sucked into champ manager that is saying a lot).

I take it to play online you will have to be a gold member?

Old Amiga games I would like to see on live are Cannon Fodder and syndicate. Also good call about Flashback

"Sources close to Codemasters have revealed that Sensible World of Soccer will be available on 19th December, just in time for Christmas.......... 2008".

Delayed due to unplayable amounts of screen tearing, texture pop-in, and frame rate drops ;)

Seriously, wtf has this been taking so long? It really can't be due to hardware problems as the game is YEARS old. Is it MS's stupid XBLA authorisation process again?
