SEGA working on Iron Man 2 game

Due out next year with film.

SEGA has announced that it is working on a videogame version of Iron Man 2 for multiple platforms.

The game will be released in 2010 alongside Marvel Studios' latest Robert Downey Jr. vehicle (and whoever thought that would be anything other than a DEA van?).

There's no word on a specific release date, but the film's out on 7th May 2010, so our money's on the nearest Friday to that.

SEGA of America president Simon Jeffery said the developer, SEGA Studios San Francisco, is "collaborating closely" with Marvel.

However, specific platforms and gameplay details were not discussed, other than to say the engine has been refined.

Probably a good thing, as the first Iron Man game was a bit limp. We remain optimistic though - there must be a good comic-to-film game one day.

Best news ever. Iron Man was my favourite game of 2008.

First film = excellent. First game = typical tie-in garbage.

Pretty much expecting the same situation for the sequel.

I really liiked the first game. I'd certainly say it's one of my favourite games, but flying about ripping the tops of tanks has to be worth something. Especially given the limited time afforded to the developer, I'm surprised it was even mostly functional.

The first game was super repetitive though, how can they really change it? Make it a Gears rip-off with added flying? I'm assuming there'll probably be a War Machine section, but even that hardly brings variation.

After the success of the first one a sequel was guaranteed!

I’d rather play Superman Returns at gun point. lol

Oh good, the powers that be were still wise enough to keep paying Sega to involve them?

Hopefully it'll be as shit as the last one then. More wise decisions in the world of gaming!

First one was one of the worst demos I have ever played. Total dross. Just like the second half of the film.

Whoa! I don't mind people slagging off Iron Man/; The Cash-in or Superman Returns, since despite how much I enjoy them they are clearly not good games, but the movie is awesome, and that's a fact that I can even prove.

Evidence Point #1: It's is an awesome movie.
    #2: See point 1.
    #3: Point 2 is a fact.

I hope that cleared that up for anyone that thought they were allowed an opinion. Which you are, as long as it doesn't contradict my factual facts.

Sega'll probably fuck this up. Give it to Sumo Digital.

Company producing this poor game is closing down, and perhaps the morale of being unwinded down contributed to the lower quality? Or that SEGA knew that they could not get a good product out of this studio and hence winding it down?

However the offical statement is as per link and also of course been reported in EG. What a pity as I was thinking perhaps i ll give this a go but poor reviews and no thanks.
