SEGA pushes Conduit to July News

Wii News by Robert Purchese

17 June, 2009

SEGA has announced that ambitious Wii shooter The Conduit has been pushed back to 10th July. We had expected the game next Friday, 26th June.

SEGA gives no reason for the two-week delay.

The Conduit, developed by High Voltage, aims to discharge the assumption that the Wii can't produce top quality shooters like PS3 and Xbox 360. The Conduit, therefore, has online multiplayer, sparkly graphics and an X-Files-style storyline.

Head over to our hands-on impressions of The Conduit from E3 to find out more.

Why's this happened then? Or are we not allowed to ask?

Well if you're going to make a Wii game and hype it something rotten, I'm happy to allow another fortnight for polishing things up. I'm still looking forward to this, should be alright at least.

@DFawkes - the game actually went gold yesterday, according to a press release, which makes this quite odd. The release date was confirmed for the US as June 23rd in the same statment...

I wonder if this is just a European delay.

The Conduit - the Wii game for people who don't own a Wii.

Yeah, I heard 'localisation issues' too...

2 weeks delay at this point won't be for polishing. I'd put it on manufacturing /logistical issues.

I have been waiting for The Conduit for ages and now this. Lame. If the delay actually aids in reducing difficulties of any sort, though, then I suppose I am okay with it.

They've simply moved it to an empty week to avoid being lost in the crowd. Seems like a good move to me.

Delayed or not, a game that only receives 76% in the Official Nintendo magazine is quite likely to be average/verging on the shite.

ONM have only reviewed the 9 hour single-player and have apparently seemed biased towards the game since their very first preview.

Nintendo Power, on the other hand, gave The Conduit a score of 8 out of 10. Either way, though, I would wait till the game has collected a plethora of reviews and scores before judging it.

If I gave a game 76% and had to convert it to a X/10 score, it would make sense to round it to 8/10. So they might have had the same opinion.

The official Nintendo mags have had the most ignorable reviews around - I always get the impression that they don't review full versions of most games.

It might just be the piss poor quality of the writers mind.
