They sound great but I really, really wish that Infinite Line wasn't a bloody DS game:-(

"Bayonetta, he reckons, won't just be another "stylish action" game - it'll take the genre to the next level entirely."

Really can't fault Sega of late, they're doing the kind of things we rant about on these forums all the time. Acquiring western devs, making decisions based purely on trying to bring out some great titles rather than boring things like profit forecasts. Look at Condemned, Iron Man (okay, that sucked, but they bought Secret Level, purely for that kind of thing), Nights : Wii (okay, that sucked but all those people that went on about needing a sequel to Nights have had to shut up), Sega Rally (okay, they closed SRS after one game, but we can imagine they would have gone on to remake Daytona), more and more quality games are booting up with that Sega logo. This collaboration with Platinum Games, it sounds like the biggest news in a long time. Capcom was insane to let these guys fold. Clover is (was) the only studio that put out genuinely inventive games every time! Still play Godhand. Still too hard.

Yeah... I got stuck on the second-last level. I should go back and give it another go, but I suspect I'll have lost whatever skills I managed to develop while playing it and it'll be even harder than before. Sigh.

Anyway, colour me most excited about MadWorld. Sounds great fun.

Excellent.

Seems ages since we've had some exciting new game news. These all look like they have huge potential.

Bayonetta and MadWorld sound great. I just hope Infinite Line keeps my newly acquired faith in the DS, thanks to the rather excellent TWEWY.

Oh and ...

Infinite line sounds awesome!

reminds me of designing spaceships for old sci-fi RPGs (pen and paper ones).

I too want Infinite Line to be not a DS game. Think you'll find the spaceship is designed by Junji Okubo. Like it says on the picture. It's also over a year old.

EDIT: He did Steel Battalion, it says here: http://www.hlj.com/product/ENT72735 I now crave that book, it looks awesome.

Bayonetta is a great name but sounds too OTT and basically stupid for my tastes. Madworld, well, my first thought was of "ban this sick filth" campaigns and Keith Vaz frothing at the mouth, but it might be great.

Madworld sounds kinda like a spiritual successor to No More Heroes. Which is obviously good, although I'd like it to be more in-depth than just incessant fighting.

Infinite Line sounds good, although I don't own and am unlikely to ever own a DS.

A few years ago I would have been really excited at the prospect of Bayonetta but now... I don't know - it just sounds a bit stupid, really. I can't really see that there's much need for more action-adventures of this type, whereas adventure games like Okami -- I would fucking love PlatinumGames (shit name - why'd they change?!) to make more titles like that.

However, tying down a development studio like this is probably the best thing the increasingly dodgy Sega have done in a while.

Madworld sounds interesting, but we all know it'll be censored because publishers don't want blood and violence on the GC 1.5. Release it on the 360 and PS3, and it'll get the treatment it deserves.

It's true, PlatinumGames sounds like one of those dodgy developers that churns out games exclusively for sale in motorway service stations.

Not a fan of the studio name at all. Doesn't have nearly the ring to it that Clover did...

Not convinced by MadWorld yet.

Violence for violence sake is cool at first but soon gets boring.

Whether the story holds up, whether there's any interesting gameplay mechanics and how it looks in full flow will decide it for me. That's the kind of thing I can't judge until a lot closer to release.

Still even if it isn't my cup of tea in the end it's exactly the type of game the Wii could do with and seeing as it's by ex Clover and Capcom folk I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

Paging Ms Bayonetta...
A Mr Tarantino wants a word re. hot chicks with guns in legs.

I think anyone who's played God of War might disagree that the DMC genre hasn't moved on recently. I suppose I'll hold judgement, but improbably large b**bed chick with wacky grafted on special weapon seems really generic.
