New Fable II DLC gets date and price News

Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

30 April, 2009

Lionhead has announced that Fable II: See the Future will be released on 12th May on Xbox Live Marketplace and cost 560 Microsoft Points (GBP 4.76 / EUR 6.72).

The developer also tells us there will be a free multiplayer weekend for Xbox Live Silver subscribers starting on 8th May at 5pm UK time, and ending on 12th May at 5am.

See the Future is based around the investigating cursed artefacts of a Murgo the Trader, which takes players to a Coliseum that supposedly makes the original Crucible tournament look weedy.

Dalmation, Bloodhound and Husky breeds of dog are also introduced, as are loads of new quests, creatures, characters and items - a picture of the new gear can be found on the Lionhead community website.

Head over to our Fable II: See the Future gamepage for what we know so far.

Alternatively, see our Fable II review or our Fable II: Knothole Island review to find out more.

I'd be surprised if the option wasn't in this set of DLC too. It bloody should be.

There should only be a dog resurrection option if it means all those people who didn't die end up dying. And your statue gets knocked down. And everyone hates you.

I think I'd go for a husky too, for the Due South vibe (although I think technically in Due South he's a wolf, isn't he?). But truth be told I was hoping for other breeds: sausage dogs, beagles, poodles, that kinda thing. Maybe there's more to follow!

PS: I want a parrot, too.

Only yesterday I ordered the game from Play, even though I am fully aware I didn't like the first one at all and it is generally not the type of game I can get in to.

Not sure if I'm suffering from the "More money than sense" illness, or have an honest desire to give the title a proper chance.

Probably the former :(

If you hated Fable then it's likely you'll hate this. Then again, maybe not. If you don't go into it expecting a revolutionary game and simply go with the ride and get swept up in its world, charm and beauty then you'll have a great time. Also, I hate the price. Love it cus it's cheaper but the 60 thrown on is so annoying.

I think the next DLC should have all the people who resurrected their dogs suddenly have "Dog flu" start to strike any town the dog has visited, killing everyone.

Incidentally, I played 100% evil right through the game, then when given the choice of less gold than I already owned, saving the dog, or saving the people, I chose the good ending purely to get rid of that bloody dog. I hate dogs.

Perhaps I'm missing something here - but what is supposed to happen to the dog at the end?

I've completed the game but I've not had my doggie taken away at all - and that was before Knothole Island came about.

Got to the end, made my choice (needs of the one) and now going back to do the quests I missed - doggy by my side.

??

The complaint people have is that at the end of the game you are given a choice: save everyone, or save your own family and dog. And people were OUTRAGED to find that when they took the option to save everyone, which SPECIFICALLY SAID THAT YOUR DOG WOULD STAY DEAD, that their dog did, infact, stay dead.

Clearly, Peter Molyneux is a bastard for this.

This is good news. I've been wanting to revisit Fable 2 and there are more than enough additions here to justify the price.

A fresh playthrough this time I think, to get the most out of the DLC.

I found the infant rants that resulted puzzling and amusing in equal measure. Props to PM though, he said he would deal with player choice and at that moment he really did in a way that no game I can think of has ever done.

It is as if some players didn't believe it when the game said their dog would stay dead, and were then flabbergasted when it turns out they were being told the truth and they would genuinely be held to account over their decision.

I am glad they put in the option to ressurect the dog, as I chose the needs of the many and did miss the little blighter. But the key difference is that I held no-one responsible except myself.

When Lucien appears at the end, didn't he shoot your dog dead? He did with me. I chose Needs of the Few, because I genuinely liked my daughter running up to me announcing that girls could be heroes too. But it was a warm fuzzy moment when my doggy ran up to me having been resurrected.

Are they adding more dogs because Free Realms has many dogs to choose from?
I'd like to see cats. And pigs. Possibly something else as well. I just think I'd like to see what kind of cat-AI or pig-AI they would come up with :D

30 Finish food

People's obsession over the dog continues to boggle me. It is one of the most rubbish "sidekick" characters I've ever seen in a game. All it does is bark constantly at the really obvious keys/treasure chests (the buried stuff it finds is invariably shit) and then gets maimed in combat having done absolutely no damage to enemies.
