Sci-fi Worms for Wii
Wigglers get overhaul.
THQ has reared its head from the fluffy top soil to tell us there's a new Worms game being made especially for Wii.
It means developer Team 17 can re-imagine the historic series for the most popular console in the UK, focusing on the controls and slinging a few party games in to round it off.
But most exciting to us because we're not very exciting is word it will come packaged in a completely new visual style, something inspired by classic science fiction. Although we're not sure whether that means 2D or 3D, yet.
Your teams of wrigglers will try and kill each other on different planets this time, each with its own global events. Pulling the various triggers will involve waving your arms about in silly ways, coupled with on-screen hints and a new user interface so you won't get too angry that your children are beating you and you can't work out why.
However, if you don't have required children, then A Space Oddity will let you try and beat up to three of your friends online. And yes, you will be able to customise your little fish food people more than ever, rather than relying on naughty names and dodgy accents.
Worms: A Space Oddity is due for release on Wii next spring.

I just hope they keep it simple.

2D = instant preorder
3D = purged from my memory
Get it right or go bust.

Because they already did it, and it was?

Personally, I'm unconvinced that the issues with a 3D version are so utterly beyond repair that you can safely write it off some 6 months before it's even due out.

With Wii's target userbase of "new" gamers, regardless of 2D or 3D it needs to be instantly accessible for people, with a pick up and play mentality. If they don't crack that, well... Of course, it also needs a "diehard" mode that mutates the Wii into an Amiga and lets everyone play Worms, Alien Breed and all the other much-loved T17 games!

If it stays 2d it'll feel like a budget wiiware thing as opposed to a full blown game to me.
And i've played 2d worms to death now, cant be arsed with it any more. At least the 3d version has room for improvement.
Only problem i had with the 3d one on the cube is that it was impossible to aim properly in first person mode thanks to the pad. But on the pc it was perfect thanks to the mouse. With the wiimote, it could be great...

The fun-ness of a worms game is entirely unrelated to its number of dimensions.
If this game is good, I might have to get me one of these newfangled Wii things...

As i said, the only thing i didnt like about 3d worms on consoles was the first person aiming - which wouldve been easily fixed by the wiimote..
ah well.

Every single Worms game after the first one looked SHIT. This is your chance to shine again, Team 17.
Worms 3d...the idea was and still is great, the implementation was not.
