Schafer unveils Brütal Legend
See it on EGTV now.
Although Sierra has yet to own up to it, Tim Schafer and Double Fine Productions have finally taken the wraps off their next game in the pages of US magazine Game Informer. Its name is Brütal Legend.
It's a game that pays homage to the ancient and mysterious forces of rock, and puts you in the biker-boots of Eddie Riggs, probably the best roadie in the world.
After fate takes a weird turn for him you will be slung into a fantasy world where even the air you breathe is inspired by metal history, and soon only your knowledge of a good old roadie rampage can save the day.
Brütal Legend is a third-person action game for PS3 and 360, and stars the vocal talents of Tenacious D man Jack Black. It will be published by Sierra Entertainment and has a tentative release date of 2008.
Tim Schafer and his Double Fine Productions are the brains behind our 2005 game of the year Psychonauts. To say we are excited about this would be as obvious as blaming your friend for your fart.
Head over to Eurogamer TV to see the first ever cinematic for the game, which gives a good indication of what Double Fine is trying to achieve.

Sorry if off topic, you see it was in relation to the word Brutal!

Anyone who doubts this should read Double Fine's website. I don't think anyone else could make an anecdote about someone refusing him change at a grocery store as hilarious as he does

Neat belt buckle too.
This all looks brilliant - hope the soundtrack will feature lots of original headbanger classics, and not just Jack Black "tributes". Speaking of Jack, I really like the way they managed to make a toon that sorta looks a bit like Jack, and like a tough, macho action hero at the same time, which Jack in his natural form is not. Nice rock vixens at the end there, too. Looks like a work of genious already.
Probably going to get this no matter what, even if I have to get a console to play it, as it just looks like a lot of fun. Would be cool if the button-mashing was somehow linked to the music; could be a nice concept if done right - like Guitar Hero meeting God of War. Hah.
One note tho: anybody think the developers are even aware than at umlaut aktually makes the letter U (Ü) be pronounced more like an Y?
Brytal Legend?

I will probably check this out when it gets released, but I'm not foaming at the mouth in anticipation, or anything.

Full Throttle is one of the game that I loved more in my life. It wasn't the greatest point and click adventure ever made, the action sequences were awful, but the characters were unforgettable.
