Samurai Warriors 2 XL next week News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 2 News by Tom Bramwell

20 March, 2008

Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends will be released on PS2 and Xbox 360 on 28th March, KOEI told Eurogamer this afternoon.

Originally announced for release tomorrow, SW2 XL introduces six new legendary characters, six new difficulty settings and new scenarios. Perhaps six - who can say.

You'll also be able to climb to higher levels than you could in the original Samurai Warriors 2, play co-op in Story and Free mode, and hire samurai to fight alongside you.

PS2 owners will be able to buy the retail version as usual, but Xbox 360 owners will be able to grab it via Live Marketplace for 2400 Microsoft Points (GBP 20.40 / EUR 28.80).

Bad news for X360 owners, as the downloads will remain at the full price for perpetuity, whereas the boxed copies will hit the bargain bin in no time - it is one of Koei's Warriors games after all.

Tbh if I'm spending £20 odd quid on the game I'd prefer to get it on a disc not DLC.

Hmmn, is the £20 for a download of the whole game (Samurai Warriors 2 included) or just the expansion pack? I'd assumed the latter, but if it's the former it doesn't feel quite so much the shafting for 360 owners I'd imagined. Still a no-no for me, though. £6 for the occasional XBLA game's about my limit. Can't bring myself to buy a retail-priced game if I'm not going to have the option of getting rid of it when it gets boring/finished.

DLC? Pretty convenient...
Disc would have been better in terms of getting it cheap though

@DB2k

Dnt think there is a PS3 version. The boxed PS2 version will be cheaper than the 360 download for sure.
